I really love the borders that Morris put on illustrations, and have been experimenting with adding that sort of thing to my paintings.9 x 12 watercolor & watercolor pencil on illustration board

What a fabulous palette. I would never have thought to put those colors together, but it works great. And I love the little dragon helping her carry her grapes.

I love using complimentary colors together, it makes the painting look so much more vibrant.

Wow, I really like this picture. I study classical archaeology and this lady reminds my very much of the acient greek, because her hair and cloth look very hellenistic.
Great job!

Oooh, thanks! She's styled after the Greek-esque statues at Versailles. I think I drove my parents nuts on that vacation--I had to go and take a picture of every single one of them. I'd like to do more in this genre--Alma-Tadema is one of the artists that I worship, and would like to emulate.

Your borders are great! I love the fat, juicy looking grapes. Nice piece! It looks like it should be hanging up in an old home or in a museum or library.

It was bought by a family winery in California. I'm pleased as punch, I couldn't imagine a better home for this painting!
