Description
Beware!. The cube is back!.This piece was made basically as an experiment to see if I was able to create a decent effect of lighting reflection. At first, I though on making still, but then the idea of making an animation of it appeared on my mind, and so I did.
Thanks to everybody who submitted their suggestions. I hope I can get better in this with time.
Specs: this piece was entirely done in Paint Shop Pro. No filters of any kind were used. A little eroding was applied to enhance the borders. No line tools were used to make this pixelation. Only tools used were the brush, color replacer and the paint bucket. Animation was produced in Animation Shop.
Important: sadly, as the original size of this pixelation was so big, the animation ran very choppy at first, so I had to reduce it to a 25 percent of its original size. On the web, this animation, due to its size, can run a bit choppy. If so, download it to see it in full speed.

Very cool. I really like how it's as if you'removing a light around it. Good transitions and contrasts between the light and dark stages.
However I think it would heve looked a little more 'realistic' lighting-wise if you could see either the beam coming in from the edge of the picture or just the relevant background bits getting lighter and darker as the light moves. At the moment it looks more like there's a spinning light inside rather than one outside as the background stays flat in tone.

That thing is hypnotising me i swear it..VEry good, smooth animation it would probably be an inordinate amount of work, but id love to see some of those sections turning and acctualy finishing the puzzle..or maby in infinate loop like is never solveable. One thing that i just noticed is it looks longer than it is tall, more a rubics rectangle, maby its the angle but are the heights of those squares the same on all 2 sides?

That looks like it took a while. If that was ever created, that'd be next to impossible to solve!

That looks wonderful!! Next step: blinking squares Try it, it'll certainly look cool (I mean making the squares blink by becoming lighter randomly)
