Hi! I'm sorry if I bothered you before, since I absolutely love you character, but after reading Little Sister and Heavenward Path (in which I discovered Tengu) I'm trying to come up with a Tengu demon character of my own.
Out of curiosity, may I ask why you made yours blue? Did it have anything to do with the mythology of Tengu like how some are red and some are blue and Karasu Tengu vs. Daitengu? Or Did you just decide to make Gasatsu blue just 'cause?

Well, I've seen depictions of blue tengu before (such as here: [link] ) so I suppose in that sense I considered it a colour that was traditional (sort of like red tengu)
If you havent already, I'd suggest checking out she has some great tengu as well, especially in the area of colour.

Ah, I'm also asking because I mine is called Hiroto and all I can think of is black, but that seems a bit stereotypical of Tengu since they're commonly-associated crows and ravens, yes? May I ask how one might keep to the traditional idea of the Tengu demons (same clothing, long nose as a human, illusions/powers, personality, and all) but avoid cliches like black wings/feathers, etc?

He's sort of tengu-esque but not inherently a tengu per say? But that might give you some ideas of what elements carry through to keep it looking traditional, therefor revealing what can be pliable in the design.
I'm all for making multicoloured versions of tengu! I mean why not, they're demons. Here's some even species variants I've done of tengu which are quite departed from the standard crow: [link]

Indeed. It's unfortunate that every time I see a Tengu or a Kappa I think of the DnD Oriental Adventures book >.< However I have to admit I never thought of using one in anything, I love how he looks
