Even though we think Asriel was the only one who couldn't really be saved, it's clearly not true, even though the amalgamates were freed from the lab and returned to their families, they'll clearly never be their old selves again, unless a remedy is found, it seems like they got just as bittersweet an ending as Asriel did.Β

Yes, True Lab was incredibly creepy. I think the fact that the game itself was pretty joyful (beside No Mercy run that is) helped a lot. You are having pretty fun time with laughs and tears and suddenly you are inside a horror game... it makes an impression on people.

Indeed it does, not to mention that it also increases the scope on the game, because if you go for some neutral endings after knowing this it adds to the knowledge of why sometimes Alphys will commit suicide, which makes this knowledge HEAVIER. There are also many things left open about the true lab that don't seem to have an answer currently, it makes you beg for more!

What if they're just putting on a happy face for when they're out in public, both their families and the amalgamates themselves? I can see the dogs being completely honest when they're talking about how they unconditionally love the crime against nature made from all their parents, dogs are like that, but the others... lot of awkwardness and pain going around behind closed doors.
Especially with Snowdrake's parents. I can't see their marriage ever quite recovering. There's no going back to anything like the way things were.
Maybe I'm just cynical like that. Maybe I just can't see myself being happy if my presumed-dead wife came back as a melty Cronenberg and I'm projecting, like Lex Luthor does with Superman.
