Description
Dear children, there was once a time when I tried to care about Dragonball Z. I'd heard it was the most exciting action cartoon ever made. Then I watched an entire episode of the bad guys playing rock-paper-scissors and doing calisthenics before the big fight. That is some kinda bullshit. And don't try telling me they were building atmosphere either, because I know a waste of airtime when I see one.We shouldn't be afraid to dump on an overrated cartoon show.

OUCH! Well, I found this comic to be absolutely hilarious for starters, good spoof on Aqua Teen and DBZ! However, I just feel i need to point out that while the Ginyu's were admittedly a bunch of pinheads, they only acted so because they were so damn confident of their strength (they were the baddest mercenary team of all time before Goku and company came and put an end to them, they thought they could afford to act silly since no one til then could so much as scratch them) and many other, much, much scarier bad guys appear on the show (freeza, cell, etc). When a show's plot is action and fight oriented, you need humorous shit like that to keep the audience from getting bored in between battles (and besides, Lets face it, goofy stupid moves or not, if any of us met a Ginyu Force member in real life, a professional planet conqueror who treats killing like its a game, we'd probably freak, lol). No offense intended of course, everyone has a show that alot of other people like but don't get themselves (for me, that show would be Spongebob Square Pants.....how the hell did Nickelodean make so much money off that crap? lol).

I get that Ginyu's boys were confident, they were oozing with it. But their attempts to build tension ran on too long for me to tolerate. I wanted them to die long before they even started fighting. You don't see Doctor Doom or the Joker playing rock paper scissors before killing someone, do you? Of course not. Those guys have real presence, and that's enough to build tension without wasting time.
I will admit to you, Goku himself seems like an okay guy, but it's my opinion that heroes are defined by their villains, and those Ginyu guys drag him down.

yeah, agreed, they can't compare to Doc Doom or good old Joker (then again, they are just flunkies, their job is to make the real master villain, in this case Freeza, look good, lol). I get what you are saying though, they weren't very good at building the tension (and i was so happy when Goku and Vegeta wasted them, lol)

I'm a big DBZ fan; I've had a pillow with Goku's face on it for the past seven years and I still sleep with it. But the Ginyu force episodes did have a lot of filler moments. Also, for the ten minutes that planet Namek had until it exploded, it took about fiften episodes to get through those ten minutes. Still, the show was epic and had it's moments of glory. This comic, has all the right in the world to make fun of one of DBZ's lesser moments of glory.
