Description Randall Boggs, the villain from Monsters Inc.

I love these PIXAR films, and I was watching this one the other day when it occurred to me that the Monster world essentially runs on fear, the same basic principle behind the Sinestro Corps. Making Randall a member was a no brainer to me.

This is pretty cool! By the way, what is the Sinestro Corps.? Is it part of Legion of Superheroes cartoon?

Well, just because I'm not very familiar with superhero series doesn't mean I don't get out much.

The Legion cartoon? No. The Sinestro Corps is the new threat to the Green Lantern Corps, which has been running for half of this year. They're essentially Yellow Lanterns, drawing their power by spreading fear throughout the universe. Their namesake, Sinestro, is a renegade GL, and Hal Jordan's arch enemy for over 40 years.

Huh...okay. I remember seeing a villain the Green Lanturn (Hal Jordon, I guess) was fighting in the cartoon and he said his name was Sinestro. Does that have some sort of significant connection? Or was the Sinestro guy part of some other cartoon that was a spin-off of the Legion of Superheroes?

What-the-Gaff In reply to EarthGwee [2007-12-26 19:23:28 +0000 UTC]

Again with the Legion of Superheroes. Why do you keep bringing up the Legion of Superheroes? I know I didn't say anything about the Legion of Superheroes. Sinestro has nothing to do with the Legion of Superheroes at all. In any capacity. The Legion of Superheroes is based in the 31st century, a thousand years after the Justice League existed. They have nothing to do with this.

Sinestro is the Green Lantern's main villain in much the way that the Joker is Batman's villain, or Lex Luthor is Superman's villain. He's the GL's big bad, and that's just what it is.

Anyways, You should make a sinestro corp Dalek.

It's also possible that Sinestro would institute a policy that excludes Disney characters.

That seems a bit petty, Disney has produced some of the nastiest and scariest villains to ever live, in spite of their family friendly reputation.

Ursula, Oogie Boogie, Maleficent, Judge Frollo, Scar, Chernabog, they'd all make good Sinestro corps members.

Oogie Boogie was created by Tim Burton. Let's give credit where it's due.

I know who created him, but he's still a Disney villain, since Disney owns the movie rights.

He was in Kingdom Hearts for pity's sake. Both of em.

(Great boss fight by the way, my mom especially enjoyed watching the fight on youtube cause Oogie is her favorite)

Well, yeah. I guess it would be cool to see the "Sleeping Beauty" witch in a Sinestro Corps uniform.

What-the-Gaff In reply to SpawnGuy [2007-11-14 23:30:36 +0000 UTC]

It was a whole thing. The hands are the only ones really doing anything dynamic, really. I guess I could have done more with the feet, though.

SpawnGuy In reply to What-the-Gaff [2007-11-15 16:37:38 +0000 UTC]

Realistically, what can you do with feet, no matter how many you've got?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

What-the-Gaff In reply to SpawnGuy [2007-11-15 17:29:11 +0000 UTC]

They could have been posed more dramatically, or holding onto something. Instead, I just drew the same hand four times. A better artist would do more with them.

What-the-Gaff In reply to arin411 [2007-11-14 19:29:31 +0000 UTC]

Exactly. Randall wouldn't be an infantryman, he'd be a special unit like Bedovian the sniper crab or Despotellis the sentient virus.
