Sweeney Todd is another great Tim Burton film, but one thing bothers me about it. Namely, how in the hell did the bodies pass from the barber shop to the cellar without disturbing the pie shop patrons? It doesn't seem physically possible.Related content

Possible, but the chair was in the middle of the floor, which stands directly over the pie shop, so the chute would have to pass right through the middle of the dining room.

I always wonder that too whenever I watch the movie; there is just no way that Sweeney could send the bodies to the bakehouse without the customers noticing.

yeah, the bodies went down to the bakehouse, which is nowhere near the customers. It's kinda like a... murderous cellar of sorts. FUNNY PIC, THOUGH!!

I always assumed they built some kind of chute through the back of the house where the customers didn't see and where Toby wouldn't notice, like through a back wall.

lol, yeah - this is something that always got me too.. With where the trap door is in his shop, it would drop down through the front of the pie shop towards the side door - (where that table is where Sweeney sat during Worse Pies in London) Plus, he even looks down the chute at one of the bodies on the ground and drops their hat .. Sweeney is magical

i noticed that too! and the stairs that lead to no where, that Sweeney looks up at before Poor Thing. 0.o
those were just some tech errors i guess, since they shoot the dieing scenes on a different sound stage im guessing

The pie shop had it's 'bake' room right bellow where Mr. Todd had his barber shop. He installed a trap door and rigged the barber chair so when he hit a button with his foot the trap door would open and the barber chair would slide the body threw the trap door to Ms. Lovette's bake shop

This has probably already been explained, but I feel the need to say it anyway. xDD
Sweeney's barber shop was right behind the restaurant, not above it. It was his apartment, if you remember, and they had to take the stairs to it. So they probably put the bodies down a chute that lead to the boiler room, where they cooked them.
I lol'd at the picture, though.

Okay, well obviously you missed the reference. What I said was a paraphrase of something said in both the trailer and on the poster for the horror movie: "Last House On The Left". Which went like if you were deeply disturbed and horrified by the film to keep saying that it was only a movie to yourself, so you wouldn't go insane.

If you watch when the bodies fall in the movie, you'll notice that the chute is chimney-like. Odds are the dead were sliding down the chute right next to the patrons and they didn't know.
What I don't get though.... how come they had a bricked chute already in the building? It was obviously not a fireplace.

I'm pretty sure the bodies went down to a lower part of the shop where the ovens were... which was why Toby wasn't allowed down there. And there was a big heavy door between the rest of the shop and the oven room.

It doesn't work like that. The chute to the basement was near the middle of the floor. By my estimation, those bodies have to pass right through the pie shop on the way to the basement.
