I don't think Puncherousse intended for you to smile as he insinuated that Shycedes probably forgot about you in the three months you've been away.

It's very close! There is less than two pages until the end of the second chapter, and then Shycedes will make her appearance!!!

I can see that you put a lot of work into various background effects here, like the sparkling when Dashie feels happy, or the darker effects on some of Puncherousse's panels. A conversation in a comic has the problem that it's difficult to convey emotion since you can't really see how the characters talk, wich words they emphasize etc. All these cool little effects you're using really help with closing that gap 
Also, I just now realized that the letter in a dialogue are colored if the character that says it isn't on the frame

What you're saying is perfectly makes sense, and I'm glad that these effects on the panels explains character's feelings and even some of their thoughts, because it really took me a lot of time to do right^^
And yes, to be honest I'm surprised how you didn't notice these colors behind the letters before, because I used it almost everywhere where the character that speaks does not appear in the panel

That was a great page. I adore 3rd, 7th, 8th 9th 10th and 14th panel, they're all nice.
The happy expression Dashie made on the 8th one surprised me - when I was reading that part of book, I kinda imagined him with the confused face like in the panel before - but I understand that he probably gets excited because being a captain guaranteed him Mercedes' faith (is that what you had on thought while reading/drawing this panel?

That's the most awesome part of the reading, since each person imagines the picture of what's happening in the book in a different way. When I was re-reading this part I knew that Dashie was rather confused, and Caderousse wasn't acting so dark after that, but this exact scene, after a bit of editing into something else, is just perfectly explains Caderousse's future actions with Danglars. So yes, I couldn't imagine this scene in a different way because of my uncontrollable imagination that imagines whatever it want, so I made Dashie more excited than confused on this pannel^^
I even added some lines that were not exist in the actual novel

The fact that you changed Caderousse's dialogue isn't problematic. Not like those movies changing half of the plot - Monte Cristo movie too! XD I watched it with TrixieDiamond and we we're like... Why didn't they do things right? *-*
