Description
A drawing I did yesterday in honour of one of my favourite songs ever written, "The Artist In The Ambulance" by Thrice.Yeah, I know it's a US ambulance, but I've always thought they looked so much cooler than the UK ones, that look like this; [link]
Thrice - The Artist In The Ambulance
Late night, brakes lock, hear the tires squeal
Red light, can't stop so I spin the wheel
My world goes black before I feel an angel lift me up
And I open bloodshot eyes into fluorescent white
They flip the siren, hit the lights, close the doors and I am gone
Now I lay here owing my life to a stranger
And I realize that empty words are not enough
I'm left here with the question of just
What have I to show except the promises I never kept?
I lie here shaking on this bed, under the weight of my regrets
I hope that I will never let you down
I know that this can be more than just flashing lights and sound
Look around and you'll see that at times it feels like no one really cares
It gets me down but I'm still gonna try to do what's right, I know that there's
A difference between sleight of hand, and giving everything you have
There's a line drawn in the sand, I'm working up the will to cross it and
I hope that I will never let you down
I know that this can be more than just flashing lights and sound
Rhetoric can't raise the dead
I'm sick of always talking when there's no change
Rhetoric can't raise the dead
I'm sick of empty words, let's lead and not follow
Late night, brakes lock, hear the tires squeal
Red light, can't stop so I spin the wheel
My world goes black before I feel an angel steal me from the
Greedy jaws of death and chance, and pull me in with steady hands
They've given me a second chance, the artist in the ambulance
I hope that I will never let you down
I know that this can be more than just flashing lights and sound
Can we pick you off the ground
More than flashing lights and sound...

Mostly I love how you've created a believeable color palette with this. It really looks like a city street late at night. How did you do all the lighting stuff?

I just coloured and shaded it like normal, then used the Render Lights part of Photoshop to give the red and blue flashing lights onto the background layer and the foreground. Then I used a clear white light for the headlamps. The background was just blurred.
Everyone always comments on the lights, but they're the easiest thing to do on the entire picture

That's really good! You're very talented with the lighting and background effects. And you can draw ambulances. *can't draw vehicles worth crap*
Good song too, I just downloaded it.

Looks rawsome. I like the thing you did with the blurring and the colors and the thing with the thing that does that thing.

Great job of coloring and shading. The perspective on the ambulance needs work though. I love it.

Aye, it was only after I inked it that I noticed how out of whack the bonnet was. Nevermind though, eh?

It's cool. song also sounds interesting.
But a warning to everyone, it is not a fun ride to be in one of those. I know, I had to be sent to the hospital in one cause I almost broke my back.

Yeah, they ain't fun. I remember the time I broke my collarbone and dislocated my shoulder. And ours smell really bad too...like a morgue.

Rendering's better. Good effort! Except why is the ambulance foreign?

Because UK ones look poop, and remind me of pain. The last time I was in one was after a spill on my old board.

Even more accurately, you could say it's one from Virginia, right?
I really like the lighting in this one.

I based it on an FDNY one, but I liked the idea of being in the Lupina EMS
Cheers man
