Description
It's FINALLY finished!I spent way too long on this, but it was definitely worth it. I'm really happy with the outcome!
I took pieces from Kairi, Eraqus (the ponytail), Aladdin (the feet) and other characters who I have no idea who they are. When I started, it definitely didn't look like Kenya, that's for sure! Regardless, I am very happy with it!

Not really. I'm no expert (not even a beginner!) at Flash games and coding.

I. AM. LOVING. THIS!!!
I see you put a lot of work on this, I should know, just tried it myself (and failing). The idea of finishing one requires such patience with it to actually pull this through. Great job!!

Haha, thank you!
It does take a lot of work, but it is SO worth it when you finish! If you can get all the way through, you won't be disappointed!

Haha, nice! I see what you're doing now; I didn't realize you were actually taking pieces from different characters in the game. Very clever! How did you get her outfit figured out? Did you draw that part yourself?

Yeah... it's a bit time consuming, but SO worth it! I'll eventually see if I can try other characters, depending on how busy I am with my college classes that just started today.
A lot of the outfit I just painted, but I did manage to find quite a bit of what I was looking for. It was just in really weird places! For example, Mickey's nose made up her blue necklace.

Very nice! I especially like the rendering of the belt. Just enough contrast to work. One thing that could be a bit more consistent is edge quality. Especially on the edges of her clothing, the edges flit between being sharp and crisp to being fuzzy. In addition, the blue underskirt that is peeking out around her thighs doesnt fall very well, if that makes sense. The shading makes it seem like it is being pulled taught to a point when you want it to be wrapping around her leg.
Anyways, fantastic job overall! Just a funny question but typically how much do you divide the drawing up into different layers? I know some artist that put every last thread and object onto a seperate layer, and some who only work on a single layer, and wanted to know how you prefer to work.

Thanks!
That's actually Barbosa's belt that I borrowed. As for the edge variety, some areas I had to paint over while others were easier to just play with filters, but I agree with the needed consistency. I'll probably go back over it later.
When I first did the drawing, I had a lot of layers, as I was pulling pieces from a bunch of different Kingdom Hearts characters. As I got closer to finishing, I would merge some layers on pieces that I wanted to edit together, and then save everything as a one-layered .png.

One of the most important things that I have learned in my experience in digital art is how edges work. if you paint over an edge, then erase the edge back to where it needs to be, then it provides a much different texture and quality than if you simply paint both sides of an edge into each other. Just the dynamic of using the eraser versus the paintbrush, it can lack consistency if you aren't careful. That's why I've found myself using layers less and less over the years, because its so easy to abuse the eraser tool. You end up with a lot of clean crisp edges where you have used the eraser, and softer edges where you have painted in an edge. You can see a little of that in this piece, and it's just something to watch for. I like the control it gives me to be able to paint in all the edges by hand, I can form each edge to be exactly what I need it to be.
But I don't want to detract from the great job you did on this. I like it a lot. Good job, I've seen definite improvement in your digital art from when I first started following you on DA, so keep it up! I can't wait to see what you do next.

I like the eraser for clean edges, that's for sure, so I'll have to go over it one more time.
And thanks for the advice! That really helps.
Thanks again! It was so much fun, and I'll probably do it a couple more times!

I'm usually happy with my newest piece. As soon as I do something newer, then that is my favorite piece.
Thanks!

Thanks!
It's actually really easy, if a bit time-consuming. Here's the site with all the characters that you can pull pieces from: [link]
Pull out anything you think would work for your character (I used Mickey's nose for the beads around her neck) and then a lot of it is just a matter of adjusting the colours and tweaking. This is what Kenya looked like at first, to give you an idea: [link]
