Description This is a piece that I did that consists of several images that I've done for various projects the 891st Engineer Battalion has needed artwork for while they are deployed in Iraq. It is a spin-off of the back of the Battalion Commanders coin that has the 4 patches in their Garrison Colored version and a plain image of Iraq with the Engineer Crest in the middle of it.

It all started with the Sunflower (bottom) patch on the bottom. That is the patch the 891st wears. They wanted a version of it in vector style and in the dessert tan color to use in a presentation for the 194th brigade. Of course, they saw the 891st patch and wanted one like it of the 194th patch (left side). So I made that one and many months went by and I didn't do any more patches. In that time, there was a need for an image of Iraq with the Iraqi flag as a background... of course, I wanted to be creative so I did it this way instead and they liked it. Then just a few days ago, they were working on a presentation for a unit back in the United States, and wanted to make a corner image with the 891st, 194th and the 20th (right) patch on it all in the same dessert coloring, so I created the 20th patch real quick for them. The next day I had some free time so I decided to make some art, but I was drawing a blank... then I came across the coin design and decided to re-design it using these dessert colored patches, so I made the last patch, the 18th (top). I originally had a different Iraq in the center, then decided to change it because it just looked too plain. Then I messed with the background changing colors, fades, designs... all didn't look good and I wanted something back there. Then I came across this background of the flag that I did for a background on a presentation and stuck that in there. I then added the lens flare behind the Iraq image to give it a glowing look with the light streaks radiating out from it. Last of all, I hid my initials in it so that I could identify it if I found it in use later because Army people like to steal art, that doesn't bother me but I like to be like, hey... I created that, I'll prove it, here are my initials...

Let me know what you think!

Yes, I'm in the Kansas Army National Guard. I was deployed to Iraq and returned home at the begining of this year. Now I work as the Officer Recruiter for the Kansas National Guard. The Quad-Force represents the stucture of commands we fell into while in Iraq. My unit's patch is the sunflower one, We fell under both the 20th Air Borne (right) and the 194th Engineer Brigade (left) and they both fell under the command of the 18th Air Borne Corp (top). We also were under the 130th Engineer Brigade for a while, but that patch is not pictured here. You said your Drill Sergeant was airborne, are you still in the military?
