The big marquee matchup are still hard to make because even the best boxers know they have only s few really hard fights in them so they hold out for the best time place and prize money .... we are seeing Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor do the familiar dance and Claressa Shields vs Savannah Marshall in the pros is obvious but has not happened. I do think today's women boxers are better trained and there are more of them so we are getting to see more quality matches more often though.

Mary Ann was pretty tough when healthy. Β She had more to show than this sorry performance. Β Her brother told me it was ring rust and knee problems, but she seemed frozen before the fight. Β Rijker was that fearsome.Β

Rijker's ring career was way better than the movies.Β Also she is a much nicer human being in the real world than the villain she played in Million Dollar Baby.Β She is in fact one of the classiest ladies ever to set foot in the boxing ring not anything like the heel she played in that pic.Β And she did not need any tricks or cheap shots to devastate opponents, she did it with pure preparation and knowledge of the best body mechanics for unloading her punches.Β Nobody came close to her after her earliest days as a kickboxing student, except the one time she fought a man and got KO'd.Β That was also quite early in her career, while her regular boxing, at which she was unbeaten, came at the end.
