Description
One night, 8751 pulled into Chelsingham Green Station. It was a moonless sort of night, with only the stars to illuminate the Station. 8751 looked to his right and saw a rather unusual sight. A Midland 4F 0-6-0. "What's one of you doin in our neck of the woods?" Asked 8751 on his signature Cornish accent. The 4F didn't respond. "Oi'm 8751."
"Don't 'ave a proper name?" Inquired the 4F in a thick Yorkshire accent. "My name's Barry."
"Nice to meet you Barry." Said 8751. "How are things on BR?"
"Fookin' atrocious." Replied Barry. "Us steam engines are being withdrawn be 'undreds. Am last o me class."
"B-But you 4Fs are antiques, you're priceless!"
Barry let out a laugh which turned into a cough.
"Not to head office we aren't" the 4F coughed. "Am worth 'baht a hundred quid to em."
Soon, 8751's guard blew the whistle and they set off for Swindon.
" 'Ave a nice night!" Called Barry from the station.
"You too!" 8751 yelled back.
The thoughts of entire locomotive classes being wiped out by the cutter's torch were to much to bare for the little tank engine, it kept him up that night, wondering if he was the only 57xx left.
