So, I've gotten into watching Criminal Minds... Mainly because it seems to always be playing on one channel or another whenever I turn on the TV! lol Random non-chronological marathons... Wikipedia helps me make sense of things, yeah. I like the quotes they throw in as a sort of narration at the beginning and end of the episodes, like this one..."Monsters are real, and ghosts are real too. They live inside us, and sometimes, they win." - Stephen King
That one's sorta relevant to my interest in the character of Spencer Reid, prodigal genius, who worries about the possibility that his schizophrenic mother has genetically passed down her illness to him! D: So, this piece is representative of his fear... that he'll someday become like one of the psychotic criminals he profiles and hunts down day to day. I'm caught between thinking something tragic like that would be too sad an outcome for him, and being interested in how it might potentially play out... Hm...
Oh (blabbering on) the title comes from Reid's fear of the dark. When asked why he's still afraid of the dark, he says it's "because of the inherent absence of light".
Anyway, I started using the "mixer" brush tool in Photoshop CS5 and wow, it's lovely! Feels so much more natural, being able to properly blend shades together with it... and it's certainly quicker than how I used to manage digital realism. Yay... Okay, here's everything I've mooched from others on this site, lol. Many thanks to them! ^__^

I'm seriously worried for Reid right now...I dunno much about schizophrenia in the medical sense, but it seems like something that either shows up or just doesn't. If he's getting symptoms...
The episode with the schizophrenic insomniac was sad. Reid ranting about how being schizophrenic doesn't automatically make you a serial killer and such...gah, poor kid! He just can't catch a break!

Indeed! I think if it weren't for all his issues, he'd be a Gary Stu for sure. With everything, though, he's just an amazing character! It makes him so crazy believable to struggle with the Dilaudid and worry about his mental health...everyone loves Reid! x3

You know, it's kind of sad, all the things that have happened to Reid thus far. And the fear of him becoming just like the criminals he pursues every day, I'm afraid, will soon become a reality. The more I watch the show, and how it's carried out, Reid's mind has become more hectic, more frazzled. His headaches have worsened and I'm hoping that we don't lose him from the show. A pyschotic break would be interesting to see, but if it means him leaving then I wouldn't want to see it.

Yeah, he better never leave! If he does come to have a psychotic break, maybe the team will save him before he completely loses himself? Ah... I guess we'll just have to wait and see...
Then again, IF this is the final season, him going berserk might make for a memorable ending...

It would, but it would be heartbreaking all the same. I can see him going into a split-personality to be honest and going after one of the team members. Either that or just killing randomly when the split-personality takes over.

Oh, well I just had a thought! What if he became a sort of vigilante? I'd be pretty happy with that! Even if he becomes mentally unstable, maybe he'd still maintain his hatred of killing the innocent... So, imagine this! Him secretly going off to find unsubs before his team can, and then punishing them with pain and death... Uh, wait... I think I'm just describing the show DEXTER, lol...
