Relationships | RP Tracker | Rough Group Timeline

Name: Elliot Kipling
Nickname[s]:
Elli [pronounced like El-ee], Kip [preferred!]
Sex:
AMAB
Gender:
Demiboy [He/Him/They/Them]
Sexuality:
Demiromantic / Graysexual

-> Kip must know someone for a while before developing true romantic feelings for them

-> Kip rarely experiences sexual attraction to any individual

-> Although these are the labels chosen by Kip to best express himself to those who ask, he considers himself [and anyone else] to be on spectrums and that despite individuals sharing labels, that does not mean that they necessarily share experiences/preferences

Age: 23 [born March 19 on a Spring Equinox]
Height: 5’3”
Affl.: Neutral

Personality:
First impressions of Kip generally lead to the concept that the young individual is an intelligent and welcoming person with little complaint about the world. For the most part, this holds true, as Kip holds a great many facts about herbalism, crystals, and behavioral psychology. He easily can rattle off facts or apply his knowledge in more real-world situations. Talented in baking and brewing tea, Kipling's home setup leaves visitors feeling refreshed and satisfied, as he works to share his learned skills with all around them. Their thirst for knowledge within their niche of interest also led them to discover candlemaking, and learn it through many rather sloppy first attempts. This devotion to learning and diligence in keeping up with their hobbies is truly admirable.

However, while Kip is quite smart, his area of knowledge is relatively limited to that of crystals, gardening, and behaviorism. Devoted to their craft, Kip didn’t take much time to learn about battling, contests, or even about modern technology, often leaving them clueless when put on the spot in these events. [They literally still have a flip phone]. This was an active choice made by them when working at homeschooling, but like many individuals when looking at the past they do hold some regrets about this choice and others they have made. When faced with something they don’t know, Kip tends to feign curiosity at first, but beneath that is a defensive shame at ‘clearly’ not being as knowledgeable as the other individual.

Furthermore, although they appear welcoming, warm, and kind-hearted, Kip has quite a bit that troubles them about the world that they live in. They constantly battle with a fear of battling Pokemon or aggressive Pokemon, which makes life both in and out of the mask difficult. Too afraid to bring this fear up, that defensiveness rears its ugly head and they often victimize themselves, turning the scenario into something worse than it was to try to justify their fear to others without giving anything away. Above all, they carry shame for having any emotions in general, often overthinking not just the words and actions of others, but their own. They feel that every emotion must have a logical explanation, which makes them a hypocrite, as he expects this of himself but not of others. His expectations for himself are always higher, often working himself to the bone to perfect a new brew or arrangement, for no reason other than needing something to do to keep himself from thinking too much. While they bear a lot of opinions, they aren’t sure how to express them, and often talk themselves out of speaking up unless it’s about a topic they are absolutely sure that they bear sufficient knowledge in [i.e. crystals].

Despite these inner demons, Kip does his best in the world, greeting others with respect and kindness as he wishes all to be treated. Although not particularly extroverted, he nevertheless is vehemently loyal to those who he does bond with, taking a stance as protector and guide for them. Tending to bond with those younger than him as siblings or older than him as mentors, he does avoid many of his own age group, but this does not seem to negatively impact the relations he makes. Happy to have long discussions and show his support through both words and gestures, he makes a good friend to walk through the woods with and open up to, for your secrets will be safe with him. Non-judgmental of those who come to find sanctuary at his side, he is open-minded and accepting of their problems and struggles, doing all he can to be there for them in whatever capacity they desire.

With a good sense of humor, he tends to tell terrible puns [usually revolving around plants or rocks] and the stereotypical 'dad jokes'. His laughter is usually reserved for those who have known him a while, but once he blossoms around someone it comes freely, accompanied by dimples and sometimes hiccups. They look on the bright side for everyone around them, having a firm belief that their friends and even the strangers they meet have a solid place in this world and deserve to bloom and find where they belong. Passionate about knowledge, bad jokes, and his lifestyle, Kipling welcomes others with open arms as long as they respect his boundaries.

History:
Elliot Kipling was born at home, in the care of his mother, aunt, and uncle. Brought into the world by his Aunt Ellyana, who was a midwife, he grew up fairly happy in the forest village that they resided in, learning about herbs and natural remedies from her. His mother, Gwen, was a Pokemon Behaviorist, who often would bring her work home, studying how children and Pokemon interacted using her own child. With his father not in the picture, said to be out doing a League Challenge but hardly spoken of, Elliot grew up looking to his Uncle Nathaniel as a paternal figure. The home was full of love, everyone coming together to raise Elliot, who had been exposed to the gender and sexuality spectrum through his family, with his Aunt Ellyana being trans and explaining the concept to him when he brought it up curiously. Their open-minded support helped him explore his own identity, realizing that they didn't fully identify as male, that they were in a gray space between male and neutral, not quite one or the other, comfortable with both but not with ONLY one or the other. Their Aunt Ellyana helped them find the terminology of demiboy and it felt like coming home for Kip, like finding a way to express an abstract idea in his mind through something simple and real. He helped around the house and doted on his family until he was about 17, when he completed his home-schooling program ahead of schedule due to his hunger for knowledge and strict dedication. At this time, he expressed a desire to enter the workforce to help pay for his own college, and applied for paid internships everywhere he could.

With years of working with Pokemon, and the well-known researcher Gwen as his mother, he was able to find an entry level paid internship in a new start-up research facility focusing on aggressive Pokemon and rehabilitating their behaviors. It was close enough to home that he could come home on weekends, and offered on-site housing for employees. He ended up rooming with two other interns, and at first the job was exactly what they had been seeking. They found themselves settling in to helping Pokemon of all species, through the gentle methods they had been raised doing. For most cases, it was a success, and with his diligence and training, they were able to be rehabilitated and either released or re-homed. Some were a little harsher, earning the scars on his arm and lips. When they weren't doing shifts, they were taking online courses for university, focusing on behavioral psychology and rehabilitation after trauma.

However, it soon became clear that the facility was not equipped to handle the most aggressive cases, and those often resulted in panic and pain for the caretakers, such as himself. It instilled a fear in him, every time that he saw a Pokemon charging at him, every time that he had to put down an X instead of a check on a sheet, essentially condemning a Pokemon to lifetime confinement. Nineteen years old, he was regretting coming to this job, but had already been here two years, and his mother expressed her utmost pride in him. He felt trapped, telling himself that she would be broken-hearted if he gave up an opportunity that she helped him get. If he came back home, he was a failure. The fears of both his occupation and of being condemned himself led him to slacking on the job one day, and getting taken down by a Nidorina’s poison point.

When he woke up in the hospital, his mother was there, giving him permission to quit, ashamed to see that this was what that place had become. Relieved, Kip decided to pursue his first loves of plants and crystals used for healing, working from home until he was fully recovered, and befriending a neighboring farmer’s young Skiddo. The creature and Kip shared a bond, and the farmer noticed, allowing the recovering healer to take the kid home. When he was 20, Elliot left home again, confident in their abilities and moving to the city with his recently evolved Gogoat and a finished online degree.

Earning money doing basic jobs, and with some help from family, Elliot was able to procure a small cottage in the forest where they set up a little shop, with expansive gardens and softly worn trails whereupon they gather herbs and seek crystals. While most individuals that they served as supplier for resided in the city and did not come to the outskirts, Kip didn’t mind visitors to the section of their home that serves as a mishmash of natural comforts: flowers, herbs, spices, crystals, candles, and teas. Running delivery services of the aforementioned items via Gogoat, Kip was actually returning from one such trip when the night sky was alit with hundreds of falling meteors.

Finding the sight to be truly beautiful, Kip didn’t find anything odd in it, committing the vision to memory and using it as inspiration for the shop’s next arrangements. When the terrible calamities came, with weather out of control and shaking his home to its core, he gathered his Pokemon close and stuck it out, cleansing the air as best he could with burning sage and quartz in hand. When they came to an end, Kip returned to his regular routines, wondering at the weather patterns but not finding any answers despite asking customers and consulting what newspapers he could.

Two years after the calamities, when he was out running the trails one day, he stumbled upon an odd shape among the flowers, finding a Mask that had fallen therein. By this point, Mask-wearers were rather widespread in the news, and he was immediately suspicious that this could have been dropped or left by one of them. However, this did not negate the intense bond he felt with the Mask, nor the desire to place it upon his features. The moment that he put it on, the change to Hekate occurred. The connection was so instantaneous that although he originally planned to turn over the Mask to authorities, Kip found himself unable to let it go. Unlike many Mask wielders, Kip struggles with Hekate despite the other simply being an amplified version of his own calm nature. He wishes desperately to be Hekate at every moment, but also has been fed so much conflicting information about Mask-wielders that he’s not sure he wants to be one. Regardless of this conflict, he keeps the Mask safe, tucked away with crystal protection, and sometimes can be found walking the woods, where he believes he is far enough from prying eyes, as Hekate.

Likes:

-> flowers [especially those that bear certain properties and meanings]

-> herbs [he loves growing them but also cooking with them!]

-> incense and candles [aesthetic on point]

-> crystals [again, particularly those that bear certain properties/meanings]

Dislikes:

-> being cornered or boxed in, anything that makes him feel trapped

-> cleaning out dryer lint [it feels so gross!!!]

-> people who have their bass up too loud [it vibrates his head far too much!]

-> judgments based on appearance alone [honestly who doesn’t dislike these]

Fears:

-> that the mask[s] made the wrong choice with him and he’ll let everyone down

-> that he’ll end up trapped like he once was

-> Pokemon battles / out of control Pokemon

-> being stuck in the spotlight / put on the spot for anything

Pokemon team:

Baobab [Gogoat] | Male | Type: Grass | Height: 5’8”

    Ability: Sap Sipper

-> Boosts attack when hit by a Grass-Type Move.

    Moves: Synthesis [Level Up]

-> User recovers HP. Amount varies with the weather.

        Protect [TM]

-> Protect prevents any attacks targeted at the user from striking on that turn.

        Vine Whip [Level Up]

-> Vine Whip deals damage with no additional effect.

        Milk Drink [Level Up]

-> Milk Drink recovers up to 50% of the user's maximum HP. Using this outside of battle will take away 20% of the user's maximum HP and give it to another individual.

History: Raised by Kip as a young Skiddo, Baobab began his life on a farm in a herd, now he considers Kip to be part of his herd. He is the gardener’s mount and often can be found bearing loads or running errands right alongside his trainer. Loyal to the core, he evolved to a Gogoat and shares an especially strong empathetic bond with his trainer. Even if Kip is afraid to fight, Bao isn’t and will defend his trainer and the rest of their motley ‘herd’ with all that he has.

Other:

✦ Has his ears pierced and usually wears either gold studs or natural stones, avoids silver because while it’s a good conductor it’s not something that matches his overall look well. He wears a gold ring on his right middle finger, often twisting it when he gets nervous. His two usual pendants are Jet [which clears internalized emotional energies for empaths; absorbs others’ energies so that he doesn’t have to deal with them] and Blue Kyanite [essentially keeps people from messing with his head; helps keep it clear of worried or anxious thinking, self-doubt or second guessing, and it also helps him to read between the lines and be aware of what’s really being communicated].

✦ Has subtle scars on his lip and on his right arm around the elbow area. These are from working with aggressive Pokemon at his previous occupation, and he can be very self-conscious about them, his usually happy and outgoing personality shifting to something more awkward and closed-off.

Reference

Alias: Hekate

-> Hekate is the Greek goddess of magic, witchcraft, the night, necromancy, and ghosts

-> Kip took this name due to her ties with magic and witchcraft

Height:
5’11”
Species:
Meganium
Ability: Overgrow

-> Overgrow increases the power of Grass-type moves by 50% when the ability-bearer’s HP falls below a third of its maximum.

Nature: Calm

-> Special Defense increased, Attack decreased, fond of Bitter tastes, dislikes Spicy tastes

Summary Characteristic: Often Lost In Thought

-> Special Attack is highest stat

Moveset:

Heal Pulse [Egg Move] | Type: Psychic | Category: Status

Heal Pulse restores half of the target’s maximum HP. It can be used on teammates but not on oneself.

-

For Hekate, this move manifests as a light that spreads from their hands outwards, and can be either conducted via touch or through a light orb-like form that shoots to their ally. The healing depletes stamina and magic for Hekate, but since it is so closely tied to their natural abilities, they are usually capable of performing the move without much consequence. The trouble comes when they must heal either after they are already low on magic and stamina, or if the wounds/statuses they are trying to heal are more massive/serious. In this event, sometimes the light will overtake Hekate’s entire form, and leave them drained, unable to perform any more attacks, and usually quite vulnerable.

Magical Leaf [Level Up] | Type: Grass | Category: Special Attack

Magical Leaf deals damage [60] and ignores changes to the Accuracy and Evasion stats. However, it will not hit Pokemon during the invulnerable stage of Bounce, Dig, Fly, Shadow Force, or Sky Drop.

-

Magical Leaf manifests similarly to what the name implies, as small sharp leaves that are formed of energy that deals physical damage. Hekate prefers to use the move to do things like cutting brambles or removing barbed wire, simple tasks, but if used in combat it can pack a punch due to their proficiency in such attacks. This is their least-used move, so their accuracy is not always perfect, and sometimes the leaves fizzle out in combat rather than hitting their target.

Grass Whistle [Egg Move] | Type: Grass | Category: Status

Grass Whistle puts the target to sleep if it hits. Sleeping Pokemon cannot move. Sleep lasts 1-3 turns.

-

When using Grass Whistle, Hekate emits a soft hum rather than a whistle, a melody of sorts that echoes through the air, reaching all nearby. Hekate can choose to target either one individual and put them instantly to sleep, or to try to use Grass Whistle to make several individuals around them drowsy and more slow to react. This is the easiest move for Hekate to perform, and they usually prefer to do this to escape conflict rather than trying to fight.

Rest [TM Move] | Type: Psychic | Category: Status

User sleeps for two turns, but user is fully healed.

-

Rest for Hekate manifests more as a deep meditation rather than a sleep, allowing for Hekate to choose a position such as being seated or slouched rather than fully prone. The length of their Rest is dependent upon how much health or magic they need to resupply, and they are still learning how to snap themselves out of it, or how to enter it in the first place. It's very hard for him to perform this move in the midst of combat, due to trouble concentrating and also the vulnerability of their physical form during this time.

Reflect [Extra Move] | Type: Psychic | Category: Status

Reduces damage from Physical attacks by 50%, for 5 turns. Its effects apply to all Pokémon on the user's side of the field.

-

Reflect manifests itself as a golden light that spreads from an outstretched palm. They are able to manipulate it to cover themselves fairly easily, and can shield up to three total individuals with relative ease against standard physical blows. Obviously, the more people they try to cover, the more strain it is upon themselves, and the less they are able to hold the shield. Similarly, the more powerful the blow against the shield, the harder it is for Hekate to maintain it for great lengths of time. For example, to shield themselves and one other person from an Antimask's fists would be a simple matter as long as their concentration is not broken by pain or anxieties. However, to shield against another Mask user or a vehicle strike is much harder, and the damage unable to be blocked by the shield concentrates in Hekate themselves. They can also only shield individuals who are within eight feet of themselves, thus putting themselves closer to the threat in order to shield others.

Grassy Terrain [Extra Move] | Type: Grass | Category: Status

Creates a low-lying grassy field lasting 5 turns, that restores the HP of grounded Pokémon each turn, by 1⁄16 of their maximum HP. The power of Grass type moves also increases by 50% while in effect, and the moves Earthquake , Magnitude , and Bulldoze halve in power.

-

Arguably the most immensely breathtaking of Hekate's moves, and the most uncontrollable. When this move is activated, often subconsciously, the flowers that usually follow and bloom behind Hekate triple in number and rate of growth, with grass and foliage spreading out from their feet in a golden glow. The largest area they can cover is about 180 tf x 180 ft but that takes immense power and concentration. With this plant growth in place, their power grows, along with any Grass Types that they are allied with. A golden glow is present in the core of almost all plants during this time, and heals any who Hekate considers allies that come through the field. Hekate can only maintain this field for a short time, the length of which depends upon how many are present within the field and the size of the field in general.

Other:

✦ When in the form of Hekate, Kip’s height increases to match that of a standard Meganium, putting him at suddenly 5’11” rather than his usual measly 5’3”. Not very used to this height, he often will walk into things that he normally could avoid, or get spooked by seeing things from a different view.

✦ Visually, Hekate appears as a slender and graceful individual with flowers growing in cycles through their long, braided hair. They have bright golden-yellow eyes like their Pokemon counterpart, and their magic tends to manifest as shades of green, pink, or yellow to tie in to their overall color scheme. Their long earrings are tipped with Jade pendulums, with Jade symbolizing purity and tranquility along with physical well-being. It brings harmony to the wearer, helping to soothe the mind and release negative thoughts. It is said it can even encourage you to become who you were really meant to be. While the scars that Kip has are gone, his tattoo is mirrored in white floral patterns along Hekate’s upper arms and shoulders.

✦ When in this form, the Meganium Mask becomes an inscribed ring, a golden-yellow the shade of Meganium’s eyes with the visual of the mask and the repeated insignia of Meganium’s flower carved into it and tinted with coppery green and plush rose gold. Hekate wears this ring on their left index finger.

✦ Personality-wise, Hekate is much more calm and graceful in their speech, movements, and energies than Kip is. They always seem to remain put together and are often more in touch with their emotions, understanding how to safely express and explain them, than Kip is. Deep and wise, Hekate is everything that Kip often wishes he could be.

✦ Much like their Meganium counterpart, Hekate always has a fragrance that surrounds them that encourages calm and relaxation amongst those who pass them by or catch the scent from a distance. This makes them quite a pleasing individual to be around. They also can revive dead plants with their breath or touch, and hardly wear shoes so that when they travel through dying foliage it comes to life beneath their step. This ability does not work for deceased creatures or to fix any sort of Pokemon injury.
