Description
SetLesser God
God of Serpents, the Desert and Master of Assassins
Set a mysterious God, once he was reverred by the Medusae but his attentions quickly switched to the Naga who soon conquered the Medusae. He's followers are also found in Derbia a land ripe with assassins and cutthroats.
Having fought in the God Wars, Set survived into the new age but his powers are not what they once were, he moves primarily in secret and seeks not to draw the attention of other Gods. Particularly he is suspicious of his son, Sobek, who he long ago abandoned and now fears might seek revenge.
He is the master of all Serpents. He was the patron diety of the Medusae and his temples dotted their vast empire. The exact causes of Sets betrayal and endorsement of the Naga is unknown, but it is known that when the Naga rose up against the Medusae their sorcery combined with the favour of Set allowed them to tear down the great Medusae Empire.
His worship is also common amongst the Drathcul, particularly by their assassin cults and amongst the Humans of the desert realm of Derbia, where assassination is considered a reasonable method of political change. There are rumours of isolated cults dedicated to Set amongst other Human lands but due to the relative secrecy of the cults there is no way to know where or the size of these groups.
Set seems not to have any single, definable goal. His churches generate large amounts of wealth from the hiring of assassins and its quite possible Set may be able to regain must of his lost power given time.

This is great! I love Set, but I have one question (is also in love with egyptian mythology) Isn't Apophis the serpent god?

This is awesome! I love it when fantasy writers use some characters from existing mythology. And no one ever uses Set.

Probally 80% of my pantheon is survivors from the 'Gods War', including Set, Sobek, Thor, Loki, Fenrir, Hades, Hecate and there theres some other mythical and historical people who are now 'godly'; Dracula, Achilles, etc.
Plus my backstory involves the death of just about every member of every pantheon on earth who didnt survive the Gods War

Wow. ambitious aren't we. Always nice to meet a person who's keeping the old gods alive. How close are they to their mythical counterparts?

In most case pretty close. Naturally in the storyline the Gods War kind of stirs things up and when trying to amalgamate mutliple pantheons into something cohesive some people had to get changed a bit and those that i could find a space for just got killed off
So far theres the Central Pantheon which is the dominant one of the world, but there are lesser pantheons at least 2 at the moment. The Forge Gods of the Dwarves which are Norse in origin and the Minotaur Gods which are Greek/Roman. Theres a smaller pantheon forming for the South (Derbia) but right now its just Set and Sobek. Possbily Osiris or Anubis might emerge as the God of Mummies/Afterlife in the south.. but i havent really decided yet.
And of course theres a nice smatter of random dieties such as the Spider God Arca and non-dieties such as the Titans worshipped by the Lizardmen and Daemon Lords worshipped by twisted cults everywhere.
Oh and the Elemental Lords who govern the elements, their kinda part of the central pantheon but also not because their not technically Gods and their pretty much Neutral.
