Character Profile: Alice

Motives / Back-story:
Alice is the demon whose contract Jason holds. Imprisoned in a cage of emptiness for over a hundred years as punishment for her spiteful assault on a higher-ranking demon, Alice wants murderous revenge. She’s planning destruction of the global-massacre sort, and she’s sponsoring Jason as her antichrist (something he’s oblivious to at the moment). In particular, she wants revenge on the bureaucratic Angel who, being assigned to clean up the mess she caused, imprisoned her.
In Alice’s world, there are Angels and Demons. They maintain a balance in the world, with Demons more like Dark Angels, causing darkness to balance out the Angel’s light. Neither are truly good or evil, it’s only what’s in their nature. After having been sent on assignment with another, older demon with whom she was partnered with, the two were called back to Hell just before the start of World War I. Alice, out of spite and jealousy, attacked her partner after a brief dispute, leaving her maimed and severely damaged (although she eventually recovered somewhat, the brutal attack left her in a somewhat autistic sort of state). Alice, then faced with all the legions of the damned pursuing her, tried to fight her way out of Hell – sort of a “last stand” situation – in the process managing to tear a significant hole in the world. Having the advantage at the time, she nearly escaped. That is, until a particular superior took interest in hunting her down and putting an end to her shenanigans. Caught and imprisoned in a cage spun off of an alternate micro-universe created specifically to cage her, Alice spent what was, to her, an eternity imprisoned (about 80 years real-world time). She expected to go insane, caged forever – that is, until Jason blundered into her little world.
Alice, compared to the rest of her kind, was always. . . . “off”. While only a “middle child” both regarding her age and power, Alice is psychotic and dangerous. Despite what Jason thinks, her loyalties lie only with Cain, and even then it’s sometimes hard to tell. Alice attends the same school as Jason during the day, acting as a body guard 24/7

Physical:
In her human form, Alice takes on the appearance of a young girl (about 16-17 years old), in order to better fit in to Jason’s world. She’s slight and petite, almost fairy-like in movement. Her human eye colour is a golden-orange; when in demon form they glow blood red. Alice’s demon form is almost bird-like; considerably less graceful than she appears in human form, and covered in shadowy feathers (that is, feathers crafted from the shadows themselves). Her hands are talloned with incredibly hard and deadly claws, her jaws powerful enough to tear out one’s jugular and crush bone. In her true demon form (which she doesn’t often assume other than in Hell), Alice appears older; she’d look about in her mid twenties were she human. Her hair is long and almost static in the way it floats around her, sort of like . . . feathers. It’s actually a form of the same shadow feathers that cover her true body. Alice can summon her wings in human manifestation, however they are hard to summon and difficult to manage. They’re rather like massive vulture’s wings, ungraceful and very draining to maintain. They tend to flop and splay around and in front of her rather than fold gracefully. Due to Alice’s control and connection with darkness, shadows tend to draw towards her.

Combat & Fighting Style:
Alice possesses the classic speed, strength, and power of a demon, along with a few other unique attributes. She has enhanced sight, so shooting comes naturally but not extraordinarily for her. She prefers to finish enemies quickly in close quarters where she can outmanoeuvre them, gutting them with her claws. She doesn’t have any particular fighting style, and will usually go for the tender areas or major arteries, later going for the limbs, the eyes, etc. If an opponent is heavily armoured, she will retreat and think of another way to attack without sustaining too much damage, or take strategic advice from Jason. If a target is too fast or too far for her to reach, Alice can call upon the surrounding shadows to help trap her opponent. She can also solidify them to strike at an opponent, although these require energy and are rather imprecise. It’s hard for her to control exactly where they hit; they are brief and take up a significant percentage of her energy. If she has to use them, it will usually be strategically, to either injure them critically, or else disable them so she can finish them in close quarters. These attacks are generally best used as a surprise attack. Alice can also summon her wings; these are immense and heavy, making them difficult for her to handle. Flying would drain all of her strength and she wouldn’t get very far, so she usually uses them on the ground, and mainly for defence. They slow her fighting down, and usually manifest when she’s burning all her power – overdrawing her energy often results in physical consequences. They appear to hurt her, to the point where she will cough blood. Alice will avoid using them in almost any situation; it is usually Jason who summons them for some sort of strategic value.
