I normally don't give out very many critiques, but I felt this one deserved the feedback. I was immediately awe-struck when I first saw this <3 Her expression is of course beautiful, and it's pretty good on anatomy, except her left arm sort of just disappears by going straight down, when it should be bent at the elbow somewhat to look like it's resting on the net with the rest of her body (Sorry if that sounds funny, I'm not exactly sure how to put it but I hope you get what I mean), and as for the right hand, I believe the fingers should be a bit longer.
The colors are blended together beautifully, but there's still good contrast where you need it C: But I do feel that there are some places where you may need more contrast, and some where you may need less. For example, the outline of the tail-fin is a bit too much. It stands out too much. I think a darker green much like you used in the hair might suit it better than a solid black outline. And I think that the torso or upper-body could use some more contrast. I like that you tried to be modest when painting her chest, but I think it still blends in a bit too much. And the tail and tail-fin I think could use some more color. There's a tad too much white space there for my personal liking.
Now for the water. I myself can not paint water. So maybe I'm not one to talk. I could tell it was supposed to be water, and I could also tell that up towards the top it goes from water to a nice sun-lit sky. But it doesn't look as realistic as your beautiful mermaid and the net. It looks like it was maybe just rushed. I'd like to give some advice on how to make it look more realistic, but I wouldn't really know.

She is absolutely beautiful in a very innocent way, and that's what impresses me tha most about this painting! And I love her hair an how simple and still recognizable you keopt the water and the net *-*

Personally, who stood out for me in this picture is the coloring of her hair; I do not know why this is, but just how it's shaded and everything causes me to notice. I also like how you colored the water and the fishnet.

I also thought you did one hell of a job on the concept.
There she is, wit at least one eye closed, laying there in a net under a sunny sky. In the full brightness where everyone can see everything, her fate and life has changed quite suddenly. Fate and life are what is happening while we are blindly swimming along.
I also like the surrealism of the ocean. It is expressed really well, how her world is no longer her reality by painting it in just such a way. It is now beneath her and behind her and what is coming next is no longer entirely up to her. She is a captive of a world much larger than she realized that it was. And on her face, you can read her resignation.
Everything about this is both graceful and delightful.I am not a painter, so i am afraid i can not tell you what tweaks to make but i think this is beautiful just as it is just the way you have done it.

I love the expression on her face. I also very much like the grace of how her body is laying there in the net. The concept is also beautifully done. The statement is really beautiful, strong but so almost fragile. Beautiful.

ooh pretty, i like the sparkles in her hair, i really love the way you do watercolour paintings and it only seems fitting to paint mermaid and ocean scenes with water...as always, great work!
