Description This is one of 6 in a muscle series i did. This one is my fav our of the series. I will try to have segmented close-ups so you can see the details. This is the back of a male torso - the woman's muscles lay differently and have different proportions (for those who don't know) but I encourage anyone who likes to draw figures - cartoons or anthro or animae - to study the muscles. (ANYTHING that will tell you the real anatomy will do) This will give you a clue to what is going on on the surface and it will give you what you need to produce better art.
Bic pen on Drawing paper.

This looks stunning, amazing amount of detail and accuracy.

These are all great studies...I wonder how big the paper was because the shading looks pretty detailed! These would indeed be fab for reference, drawing the muscles right and such
the problem for me is trying to work out how the muscles look when the body is in a pose/in motion - because sometimes they seem larger or shaped differently when they're tensed, don't they? But these drawings are very well done!

thank you! And you are totally right - some are flexed while others are relaxed when they are in a pose. It's hard to know which ones do which when you aren't studying from a live model. I try to know which are the flexers and which are the extenders and that sometimes helps. I'll be honest though - once I learned about the muscles it made it easier to understand what I was seeing while I studied a live model. Like Michael Angelo said, those who don't know about the anatomy end up drawing bodies that look like a "sack of walnuts".

wow great detail here! the human body is a work of art in itself, and you have represented it brilliantly!
