Description Happy New Year!!! yay, first submission of 2009~

This is a tutorial to show you how to make clay cake charms: [link]

I know I shouldn't have crammed everything together (it's like 4 tutorials in one lol) but I was too lazy so yeah please download to see the full, if you can't see the pictures clearly...... Full view isn't the full size, sorry!! >_>;;

Some things I should point out:

It's not necessary, but I used a glove so I wouldn't leave finger prints. I don't use two gloves though, cause for me it's kinda hard to work with.. >_<

TLS - Translucent Liquid Sculpey (lol, too long to fit)

You can get all this stuff at your arts and crafts store (Michael's) or online.. >__>

Please do not modify, copy or redistribute this image! If you want to post this image OUTSIDE OF DEVIANTART, I would like to know first ^^

I hope this helps/satisfies your curiosity.

EDIT: THANK YOU for the DD!!! >_<

this is wonderful and helpful a lot. I see you're working with latex gloves I have been doing that too, no mater of being allergic to latex I've tried nitrile gloves but they tend to crease, so the best option is the tight fitting s sized latex, which gives me little wounds on my knuckles.

ooh.. i've never heard of nitrile gloves XD

Belilmalebridia In reply to whitefrosty [2009-01-11 21:10:53 +0000 UTC]

they are usually much more expensive, they were made initially for people allergic to latex, and they come in a pretty blue color.
I work in a lab, so I've tried all the types of disposable gloves

This is a nice tutorial. I like it that you show how you make your textures , many sculpey charm makers seem to be very secretive about that.

TsundereKit In reply to ??? [2009-01-02 17:41:48 +0000 UTC]

As far as the eye pin goes, I just had a quick question:

I've made many charms before, but I always have the same issue with the eye pins falling out. Is there any trick to getting them to stay in? I don't think it's the wire I'm using, because I've used 20 and 22 gauge. I'm sure gluing it in afterwards would work fine, but if there is a simpler technique, it would be wonderful if you could share. Thank you, and keep up the amazing work. I've never seen charms made as well as yours. (nor with so much detail!)

MyntKat In reply to TsundereKit [2009-01-03 18:49:54 +0000 UTC]

I usually add a hook to the other side of the eye pin (just bend the end to the side). This way it doesn't fall out so easily because it is a lot more secure after baking.

I'd coat the eye pin or wire with a bit of TLS, cause it supposedly acts like glue for clay. ^^ Or I've seen some people apply super glue (or something like that)around the part that sticks out to make it stay in better hope that helps? XD

Thank you both! I will try both methods to see which works best for me.
