What I had just seen, in the past half hour, served as direct proof that humans are naturally destined for self-destruction.Why people do what they do with Danny's image in order to further their own sick, sorry reputations as supporters of eroticism is still outside my range of understanding.
One thing is true: They have no love for him at all.

I actually have a question though. This may seem redundant, but well I'm confused on one thing. Did Butch speak out against porn in general or just slash? I was always under the impression from the statements it was just slash... Oh well, I don't particularly agree with either one...

Slash because of all the slash artists who used to be on his boards. So far no porn artists have approached BHF or DPOF yet, although I don't suppose he would feel any more amiable towards a person who draws his male characters naked and feeling each other up than a person who draws them fully clothed yet kissing each other.

It is much more difficult and takes a lot more intuition and integrity to be able to efficiently run a kid-friendly forum than it is to run one which caters to all tastes, even poor ones.

I can only imagine how difficult it must be. You guys go far beyond even the DPOF to make sure that all the members stay respectful to Butch and his show. Honestly, the effort you guys put in is amazing. It's tough but I for one am very grateful of the work you put in.

I have to agree there. For God's sake, the cartoon is made for kids. If Danny was meant to be ill-y(?) spoken/thought of, he would be on Drawn Together or some other porn with a cartoon ruse, right? I haven't seen any yet... but just thinking about it... -*shudders*- And just think of how Mr. Hartman deals with this. I'm pretty sure he's seen some pictures that made him cringe; the thought of his 14-16 characters being disgustingly intimate with their best friends or their 'other halves'. The farthest I go is holding hands as if they were the world's best friends, like... Spongebob and Patrick. They hold hands sometimes but that doesn't mean they're in love. If it goes further than that, I can't stand it. Is it just me, or is "our" generation a little bit on the perverted side? I mean, basically everything has a "double meaning" now. >is getting off topic< While DP and FOP are ending >for now?<, this is the last thing Butch needs.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. It breaks my heart to see a "fan" of anything take something and destroy it in an erotic fashion. They have no respect whatsoever for the characters, the creator(s) or the people who work to bring the characters' story to us. They have no right and no decency. I consider people that go to extremes in that fashion little better than real molesters.

I look at this and I feel like I have a serious confession to make... I hate it when people use Danny like that, I really do. It disturbs me, but at the same time I used the lame excuse that it's a free country, do whatever you want thing, you know, I the entire time I've seriously regreted that. I don't have a clue what came over me when I said that. I hate it, but I said it was ok when it really isn't. I need to be smacked over the head really bad for even daring to say a thing like that. I must of been head over heels or braindead or something! But I've regreted it for so long. I really DO hate it when people use Danny like that. I stand up for this!

I agree with you there, whitegryphon (even though I am a shonen-ai fluff fan myself, even though I don't draw anything of the sort) that such a innocent and cute cartoon character should not be used to arouse people, especially when the character's creator specifically said not to do that kind of stuff to his characters.
Now that was just appalling to hear something like this is happening, especially to a very innocent character like Danny. (hmphs) You're right, those fans aren't really fans of his, at least, in my eyes they are not if they are de-purifying his image to pleasure themselves!

you're kidding, right? Listen, I'll admit that there are some drawings of danny in sexual situations that kinda freak me out, but I wouldn't say that the artists are Sick. You're praticly saying that. and there are other people who have other cartoons in that way but no one complains about them. I think your overeacting. Not everyone who draws sexual scenes of Danny and other cartoons are Sick and/or Perverted!! They love the character. I mean, no one complains when you read stuff like that in stories, but it's different when you draw it. and I'm not Just Talking about normal cartoon parings, I'm talking about Fan's love for the charater, a "Toon Crush" if you will. and there's nothing wrong with that.

Ah, yeah, the typical answer... freedom of speech and opinion and whatnot. But in this case folks, Butch has expressed his discontent. If they 'love' his character so much, the least they could do is respect his creator's wishes, couldn't they?

They don't realize that when they draw fanart, they're borrowing. Whenever you borrow someone else's stuff, you must take care of it, since it's not your property, but someone else's who kindly let you use it for healthy entertainment. Some people borrow and takes things way to far.

Consideration, courtesy, and respect versus the freedoms handed down to us by the founding fathers of this country... And people choose to become freedom-fighters. Why? To benefit themselves. They could care less who gets hurt as long as no one tramples on their own rights.
There are people out there in the desert DYING for us (although I hate Bush, I still support the troops, it's not their fault our president is such an idiot), and people are abusing their rights by tearing apart everything Butch Hartman has worked for (among a million other things concerning a million other outstanding members of the artistic sphere) in order to benefit themselves.

Anyway. Yeah, they're demeaning all of Butch's hardwork into a disgusting sexual-pleasure machine. That was NOT why Danny was created. Seriously, this people need to get out more and find a hobby other than drawing mature pictures concerning them and an innocent cartoon character.
Better yet, why don't they find someone (real someone) and actually do the real thing without having to vent their sexual frustration through their art and using someone else's character in a way Butch did not approve of?
They have no respect whatsoever, both for the creator and his staff, and the show and characters itself.
Even worse, they don't even respect themselves, and lack common sense. Sexuality is an entirely private and intimate act of nature, and musn't be displayed as shamelessly as people do it nowadays. (Porn, mature art, etc.)
I was losing faith in the human race, but now I think we're doomed.
