I didn't plan on drawing any MLP art so soon after the last, but Discord was too cool. I just to paint something with him. Here's to the newest, crazy troll.Well, I'm pretty happy with this. Discord is both a pain, and insanely fun to draw. I know the shading isn't perfect, but overall I like it. But I think the BG was the most fun. I used a total of three textures for this pic, and pretty much went crazy with brush strokes. It gave the piece a very...well chaotic feel, which is exactly what Discord is.

Since you asked for critique I have a few things to point out.
First of all, the colors of the character and the way you colored him. It's a mess, in a bad way. It doesn't look like it's one creature, one body, as much as a few layers of legs, wings, head and torso that were randomly put together. Sort of like a cut-and-paste with colored paper. I strongly suggest that you start practicing some color theory and try to blend the parts together more. Use the same kind of light and shade on each piece rather than shading yellow with yellow and green with green.
The pose also makes it a very unreadable character. I didn't see that it had such a long neck, so you should try and figure out some clearer poses that will better show the shape of this creature.
Next, it doesn't look chaotic. In fact, the calm browns in the background makes it look all but! I think you should work more with strong contrasts and more dramatic backgrounds! Those little swirls give it a sort of vintage feel, like an old dinner table. Why not try making something stormy, with harsh shapes and strong shadows and light going on?

Umm....thanks for the critique, but this is an actual character: [link] The coloring and features are relatively "acurate" to the character. Also, since he represents chaos, I actually tried to make the brown chaotic, while still using a color that could tie the characters' colors together.

I am not saying anything about the character design, I'm saying that you need to shade it so that it looks like one piece 
Besides, long characters do better not being curled up in the corner of a picture like this, but rather in a more free flowing pose. Think about the Asian dragon paintings?

Well, I used GIMP, a few textures, and everything I've learned from about a year of Digital Art.

is how I see Discord. He is a truly magnificent villain, not doing what he does because of revenge or thirst of power... but because he loves doing it. That as per his name he loves causing discord as well as spreading conflict, feelings of doubt, uncertainty, anger, and breaking that which binds others together. And his does all this because he considers it fun. His power currently seems near limitless, and with his intelligence and experience combining to make him the perfect manipulator, deceiving those around him by his deceptively silly personality and actions. Being unfeeling to the suffering be brings to others and he plays his little 'games' for his own amusement. It is by his actions that one sees just how dangerous and effective of a villain he is.
Honestly I could understand perfectly why Celestia and Luna tried stopping him. Yet Discord is cunning, even though the sisters had the power to defend them and it seems Celestia is immune to his games and tricks... something tells me Luna would not have been though. I bet that it was because of the words and tricks of Discord that lead to Luna becoming Nightmare Moon. As Discord would know that he would be able to break through eventually if he could break the bond between Celestia and Luna, that but placing seeds of doubt and uncertainty in Luna she would turn away from her loving sister and do what was needed to become more powerful then Celestia... yet not understand that she would lose herself by doing so.
This then takes us to the present time. What did Discord do as soon as he broke out of his stone prison and before he started having his 'fun'? He stole the only thing that could defeat him, and then forced the wielders to play by his game and by his rules. He then makes it so the group can't win his game by picking them off one by one, by playing upon their weaknesses and turns their strengths on their heads. Effectively destroying what they are, and threatening to tear apart their friendship.
The is among the truest of villains, entertaining to watch yet on you can't help but love to hate. I love villains like him, as it is these kind a villains that can do the most despicable of things and have fun doing so.

Haha, nice! He is a very fun villain, and I liked him more than Nightmare Moon because he was a little more sly (and he had some method to madness action going on instead of... well, whatever Nightmare Moon did. XP. Not that I dislike Nightmare Moon; she was fun in the beginning and her voice actor was spot on, but she wasn't as a good a villain, put simply).
