Description
Artemis: "Shadow is the means by which bodies display their form. The forms of bodies could not be understood in detail but for shadow."Solaris: Where'd you hear that? A Fortune Cookie?"
Next up in the Tudor Ponies series: Prince Artemis!
For Artemis, I used two outfits Edward VI wore to convert. I realised his wardrobe was still extremely similar to Henry VIII's, so I did some digging and decided to combing clothes Ed wore as a baby for the color and sleeves, then use the coat and hat he wore as king to create something that still maintains the feel of the Tudor era.
Since I imagine Luna/Artemis as painting the sky each night, I tried to make Artemis look like a scholar/researcher similar to DaVinci (even though he's from the wrong century) with toned down colors and less ornamentation than the other ponies in the series. Wheras Solaris would party and flirt, Artemis would be more interested in research and carefully crafting his night sky, and may have even been a student under Starswirl the Bearded (wait, this is Rule 63. Has anyone made a Rule 63 Starswirl yet?)
Also more background practice!
Fun Fact: The title was inspired by several quotes by DaVinci in which he stated that while light leaves an impression, shadow is what defined a surface (artistically speaking). And as you probably guessed, the quote Artemis uses at the beginning of this description was by him too, one of my favorites. I really need to read more stuff by DaVinci. He was a genius after all.

Your artwork is very good!
And I like the background, the emotion and the clothes you draw.
Very elegant, isn't it?
Of course Luna (Artemis) is pretty sweet.
Good job!

Very well done background! I love it! I love the whole picture, but when you mentioned the background was practice I had to say something about it.

I'm not sure, I think someone's already made them. I've never made a R63 pony actually, all the ones I've drawn were by other artists.

For a moment I really thought the portret was inspired by a younger Leonardo da Vinci or some italian noble. He looks really nice ;] So... Considering Artemis is inspired by a likeness of Edward VI you now have to make a pauper version of him ^^

If I remember correctly Edward VI is one of the two main characters in Mark Twains book "The prince and the pauper" - it's the one where a snob and a beggar change places ^^

What a wonderful picture! This series has been awesome so far!
Have you ever made a picture of Starswirl the Bearded? I think he would make a great addition to this series!

Another excellent picture. The Edward VI clothing does seem to fit well with Artemis. There seems to be a certain humbleness and lessy flashiness (is that a word?) to it, but still conveys regality. Also, good job on the background.
I look forward to your next piece. Of course, being me, I hope for the Chrysalis/Ivan the Terrible picture, but since you're the one putting so much time and effort into these works, I will respectfully wait and appreciate all you works, in whatever order you choose to release them.

Thank you. ^^ Next I actually had the sudden urge to draw Rarity as Queen Amidala from Star Wars (like I said, these are done very much on a whim. ) and then Rarity as Marilyn Monroe. But, I actually do plan on drawing Chrysalis as a Tsarina in the future. Your writing and comments inspired me!

That's good.
Also, funny thing, I have figured up an OC child of hers who could act like Tsarevich Alexi. But I'll tell you about that some other time, since I'll be in Wales for the next five days. So I'll you after that.
