Description

...or not?

The same photowalk as the last picture again with the D300S and the 200-500mm F5.6 on the Aviation/Birding settings.

Aka Auto-ISO in Manual (the Aviation/Wildlife life hack! ) and on 12-bit RAW instead of 14.

At 220mm so equivalent to 330mm on a full frame.

It's one of those cases which remind me that sometimes the best is not what you aimed for, but that fleeting opportunity you took.

Thanks to the low ISO of this shot this is pretty much straight from the camera, I didn't even use the lens corection profile on this one, because that miniscule ammount of vignetting just works.

You only see it after you try to activate the lens profile and think that on this shot the corners would be too light with it.

And this lens doesn't really have Chromatic Abberation in my experience.

Lens hood was on, as the sun was to the left about 30 degrees off.

I put it in Camera Landscape mode and it only needed a teensy ammount of development. What I love about the D300S and the D700 is that so often the images come out of the camera just like you want them.

...if you remember to not put them on Adobe Colour, because that can ruin the exposure, as it is a bit too strong in contrasts. Again no rule without exception.

If you wonder about the title, rain had been threatened all day and it had been supposed to rain a bit earlier. And it was the first sunny day in about a week, as we've otherwise had been stuck under an inversion layer at the nearby Albtrauf (northern Edge of the Swabian Alp).
