Description

The train I rode to Ulm, my mum was visiting her grandchildren and since there was some chaos on the lines (as usual by now, DB is running juust great!) I thought I'd accompany her to Ulm from where she would take her train to my Sister's.

And I thought, well, why not combine filial duties with pleasure and go photographing there. It would give me a chance to indulge in one my passions Railway photography. For which I had too little time this year and publishing which had been hampered by some scanner troubles.

There is a huge backlog of film that I need to scan...

This was a bit of a fudged shot as I tried to expose to keep the highlights, which meant the loco was pretty dark and the shadows needed to be raised significantly.

But with a little virtual gradiant filter trickery, the help of the AI denoiser, and the D700s monstrous dynamic range, I persevered.

And thanks to

for giving me the impetus for finally putting this one up here, by reminding me how much I love the Railways. Despite Deutsche Bahn and the german railway system being a shit-show of epic proportions!
