Description
Yes this is the Grandfather of all Airplanes of the Oldtimertreffen Hahnweide 2009 airshow. This is a Tullin Built Bleriot XI, from..............1919! No i am not joking that Aeroplane is from 1919 and its one of the rarest and most valuable in the world. The Tullin Bleriot were made by the AB Enoch Thulins Aeroplanfabrik or Enoch Thulin Aircraft factory for the Flygvapnet, the Swedish airforce, this one was built in 1919 and then flew for some years, after a crash it was left to rot in a barn. There it was found by Swedish airliner pilot Mikael Carlson and was rebuilt. So this one of the oldest existing and Airworthy planes in the world. A true treasure. Since the engine is a rotary engine and it is lubricated by castor oil it leaves a certain smell in the air while it flies by.And that brave Aviator flew over the Channel in it, in 1999 to recreate the Channel Crossing by Louis Bleriot in 1909. Since this is the exact same model as it. Yep that takes some Major guts.
Clear Skies and many happy Landings Mikael!
