Description
This is Cua and I painted him being lazy and all, waiting for the apple to drop!An the reason I painted him is because he came to my attention when I scrolled through GreySparkle & Xrisoka 's oc's.
They happen to organize this contest >> fav.me/dc7m191
Here are some of his references >> sta.sh/21nxi02uuxlc

I love the glow and the lighting in this one, also the angle and perspective!
The hair and facial features are well done too. As wel as the look under the tree!

I'm glad it all came out so well.
I tried to capture personality in posture and scene

Congratulations once again !
You imagination is just endless! So simple and so hard to invent such idea! Great job!
And you've got such hard perspective pose, especially to draw it in so short time!
I love how you place light and shadows here and also saturation of colour. And these apples looks like made from crystal for me. I love that effect!

Thank you Kizzy
Crystal apples hehe, didn't look upon them like that but I like the idea.
Happy that they pop out in the scene so well
With this, because of the last minute making, I kinda said to myself, if it works, it works .. and if not, well, then alas.
And I think this helped with just experimenting with an objective mind, and it was easier to put down what I needed, not dwelling on any distractions

You really did fantastic work especially in so short time you had for thet! And yeah, open mind, not caring of being perfect and just experimenting is the best way I think . And not expecting.
(I can see the last one especially in ceramic crafts which I started crafting half year ago. When I expect some result and imagine final version I'm always disappointed and frustrated because this what I do is faaaaar away from this what I want it to be. Last time I even made everything right, following my idea but the glazing was partially fired out in furnace and it looks so different than I wanted. But everyone who see it loves this random rare effect, only me not as it's not as I planned uh... (I must take a photo at last and upload) but when I have only a slight idea about direction what I'm doing it works really well and I learn fast and smoothly new things without stress or frustration. Just if I have too clear and polished project in my head it doesn't work. I surely have to move some my ceramics experiences into drawing .)

Oo yes it be great to see what would come out of the joining of your painting and ceramic adventures
I agree that ceramics give this natural more experimental vibe, going with intuition when creating things.
Maybe it also has to do with having the material in your hands and it being rather easy to form.
Well rather easy, easy compared to goldsmithing for example XD
O boy that's hard to the hands haha.

As always, you try to go for the ones with less representation, I didn't even immediately realize who this character was, but you did an amazing job on him! Your color compositions are always amazing and on the spot! Best luck!

Heh XD It is not on purpose really.
I just go with those that peek my interest
And although there are a few references I went more with the description while picturing him.
The references have their own more comic style.
Happy you like the result, Leila
Thank you! You as well

I like that you go more for the descriptions, that makes your interpretation more unique.
I also tried to go for a personal interpretation because I am not a fan of anime style so I took him to my own style.

There are many different styles with anime and a few I find lovely to peer at
But the problem with those is that they warp characters features in a very specific way.
You are indeed bound to suppress your own input if you get led by that

Oh, I can enjoy anime art... But I just don't feel it when I draw anime myself. I love working in facial features and anime art tends to make them subtler.

This might be my favorite of your paintings thus far (maybe not, you have a lot of cool pieces). My only complaint is that his face and tattoo (?) are too well defined.
I think they would work better less defined like the rest of the painting. But, great piece, very iconic, reminds me of Newton!
I don't know, maybe the definition is alright :]

Well that is great to hear.
And then to think that I only had this afternoon left to paint something for this contest.
I couldn't use my pc whole week
I was quite in a hurry and still I do not have a stable opinion about it myself XD
It was fun tho, no matter the dead line tapping on my shoulder.
I think you are right about the defining although it maybe is not just that it is at the face and hand,
but that there is no other places having that level of definition.
It portraying this certain character tho makes me feel like a need to define parts of him.
Hmm but maybe it is not needed so much.
Maybe the idea of the scene would have been enough.
Not sure
It is something I'll experiment with in next paintings tho haha.
And yess, Newton indeed haha XD
Didn't even think about it
Just knew he liked fruits, naps and was lazy, so doh, chilling under an appletree XD

well i am not so good in these arty styles but i really like tht you defind his face and his handembodyment...
cause it lead the focus to things wich are important to this character... and yeh maybe i am still to unknown but i like that contrast ^^

I think there's no right or wrong really
It just depends what you want to express with a painting.
Because indeed for purposes of presenting the character's features,
some focus does well.
If it be more about the scene and so, his personality, the focus might be distracting.
It is a good thing to think about tho, when making a painting, how does it communicate and why

yea, I like him very much.
And no problem, I can lend him anytime you want.
In the end, sitting still is one of the things he can do best XD
