Description
I am quite pleased with this. it my be the best face i've ever colored. though i did get (obviously) bored the farther down the body i went. as can be seen by how sloppy it gets.anyway, this is Princess Azula from Avatar the Last Airbender. she's fabulous and I love her even though she goes crazy at the end.
i kind of like her crazy Fire Lord/Agni Kai hair that she cuts herself.
i love this crazy girl.
she is a good villain because she's so cold and calculating, but then her spiral into insanity is so very sad. her friends betray her and her father brushes her off, and she's all alone in the world, still believing that her mother loved her brother more.
i really believe that she could have held it together if it had not been for Mai and Ty Lee's betrayal. and i think she could have handled Mai. but it was Ty Lee who broke her. the look on her face when Ty Lee paralyzes her is one of utter shock. i believe Azula loved Ty Lee, and that Ty Lee was, in fact, the only person Azula ever loved. which made her betrayal that much more hurtful. Azula was always fragile, no matter how strong she appeared. she wanted her father's approval just as much a Zuko did. maybe more.
I could write a whole essay about how much i love this character.
i think this should be her theme song-> [link]
also, crappy background is crappy.

hmm, they're the only two mentioned. and if there was one in between, wouldn't he have wanted to protest Ozai becoming Fire lord? maybe all his other children were girls and couldn't inherit the title (because they weren't awesome like Azula)

Quite possibly, there were others who died along the way.

this is very possible, too.

It all depends on the culture. The Fire Nation seems to be based on Japanese culture, and in Imperial Japan the emperor had a ton of concubines. I guess this is a territory of reasonable speculation without any means of canon confirmation.

that's true, but how legitimate would the children of the concubines be? i would think that only the children of the real wife would be in line for the throne. but i don't know much about Japanese culture.

So long as they are official wives, they would be legitimate succesors. They'd not be particularly close, since the first son(s) would be favoured, but they'd nevertheless have a shot at the throne should the older successors die- this led to some nasty fratricides in its time..

i can imagine. well, from what we saw in the series, it looked like Iroh and Ozai were the only two possible heirs.

That it did. It's possible the fire lord didn't have that many children, or that many died early- infant mortality rates were awful those days.

that's possible, too. of course as far 'those days' goes, we really have an ambiguous time frame. the fire nation is pretty mechanized, and the earth nation has several incredibly elaborate cities, while the water tribes are obviously much less advanced (which can probably be attributed to their people being slaughtered by the fire nation).

They have a very strange timeline- the fire nation has tanks, first invented around the early 1900s, but the concept of an air baloon somehow eludes them.
If we look at the civilians though, they seem to be in a fairly medieval-prerenaissance time. And I'd like to mention that the infant mortality rate was a problem up until the 1900s, when western living standards begun to increase.

indeed. it's just a mix and match, i guess.
this is true. it was a problem into the 1900s.

Much more so than claymore, which we've previously disagreed on. This one is much more clear cut.
Have you watched Avatar Abridged? They make some great cracks about this.
So yeah, I'd say the chances are high he had other children who died young.

true, but i can agree that Claymore has much more of a contained time period. no, i've never watched that. i'll have to check it out.
quite possible. it would help explain the huge age gap while Azula and Zuko are only 2 years apart.
