Description

Amazing Benedict Cumberbatch as Christopher Tietjens from the great miniseries Parade's End.

Follow me on IG!   I'm more active there and also post WIPs and other content!

Similar to the previous one, semi-detailed on A5, based on small, bad quality screencap. Hate that I had to put this in fanart because the ref is from a miniseries. My intention was to draw Benedict as himself, not in character, sort of a little study, while the ref is one I instantly took a mental screencap of while still watching the scene. It was kind of that!, that precise expression.

  HB, 4B 0.5 mechanical pencils | H, 2B, 3B, 5B, 7B, 8B pencils | A5 Canson fine grain paper | kneaded, stick eraser | ref (screencap)

Ugh. Dok za Martina...hm, OK. Ali sekunde kad je otvorio usta u Sherlocku kad sam napokon počela gledat ploča se okrenula i sada ga jako volim, njegov glas posebno i sad mi je jedan od najdražih glumaca i pogledala sam većinu njegovih filmova i (mini)serija.

I'm very happy to see something new from you! The texture of the skin is amazing as always. All these wrinkles on his forehead and chin are wonderful Love the fringe! It's hard to draw messy, fair hair, but you managed to do it! The eyes turned out greatly as well, I mean, they look wet, realistic and full of emotions

It took you 3 months to complete? I had the same with this colourful A.Turner drawing, but I can beat you and myself, too, because a double Kili pencil drawing [which I haven't uploaded yet] took me 5 months And I'm done with drawing Aidan for now, lol.

P.S. I know it's not Sherlock, but as Ben plays him, the drawing fits in this collections of favs

WickedIllusionArt In reply to Ilojleen [2013-11-24 11:02:06 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much! I worked with enlarged bad quality ref and there part of the hair is blury and all kinds of stuff looked a bit weird because the ref was also made lighter so I hope the drawing doesn't look too weird because of it all.

Yeah, but in my case there is no excuse for 3 months on only semi-detailed, hardly my best work, A5 drawing. 3 months and only a few days spent actually working on it. Still it was a lot of hours, don't wanna know how much. Double Kili? Let me see, let me see, let me see!! Now you reminded me I still haven't commented o your Aidan in color! Will soon fix that!

You're very welcome Why do you keep torturing yourself?

Well, here's the excuse for you: you've been watching many tv-shows in search of new screencaps

Hah, sure, I'll send it to you in a private message, but only a WIP, OK? Hope you'll forgive me, I like to keep my works unseen until I publish them But you'll see the most important areas finished, anyway.

No problem at all! I "produce" a lot of drawings [or I rather used to], so it's hard to comment on them all, moreover, it's not your obligation! However, I'm always happy to know your opinion and I appreciate it

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

WickedIllusionArt In reply to Ilojleen [2013-12-02 19:38:37 +0000 UTC]

You really don't have to, I'll wait patiently with the rest of people. Wait, skratch that, I just saw you already sent the Note - will answer in a minute! I like to see WIPs too, but prefer just one or two WIPs not showing ALL the that is interesting on that work, prefer sneak-peeks, because if there's multiple WIPs, when the drawing is finished, it's just not that "interesting" anymore - you've already seen it all, sorta. Seeing finished piece with not too much "spoilers" is kinda more special. Lol, there's this one guy that submits so many WIPs of the same work like daily I'm practically thinking about un-watching him.

Good thing I got your reply on this because I forgot to comment on that drawing. Again. It's one of the many works in general I've been meaning to comment, but something always draws away my attention/get occupied with something else. I'm faving, featuring, liking, reblogging, and running and very little commenting lately.

Ilojleen In reply to WickedIllusionArt [2013-12-28 14:44:59 +0000 UTC]

Exactly! I'm not a person that looses interest in a work  even after having seen many WIPs, but I've noticed lots of people tend to give less feedback if they saw too many & too much revealing WIPs. I always post one or two, just to stoke's people interest
I don't like it either. So, did you unwatch him?

Hey, no problem, really But you've already done it, so I'm thankful

Thank you very much! I hope to draw much better drawing of him/Sherlock in the future. Lol, thanks, if I know it was this complex, stream of consciousness, jumping all around etc., I'd think twice before reading.

I'll look forward to seeing more   I'd like to do a really detailed portrait of him too, I love his mouth

How you can do it reading in English also is pretty amazing, it's my language and I wouldn't attempt it

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

WickedIllusionArt In reply to pbird12 [2013-11-22 17:05:28 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, he both has more unique looking eyes(that whole area) and mouth (upper lip). He's a great drawing subject, but very few do him really well.

Well, no way I'm reading Dickens and some other, especially British classics, in English if I can avoid it (couldn't avoid this one), don't want to miss anything. YA books are the easiest to read (simple language and style), but not only them. Like I said, I read 2 of Follett's with +/- 1000 pages like it was nothing.

Better is hard to conceive, you might get closer to a realistic depiction but that would not necessarily imply a greater artistic ability.

WickedIllusionArt In reply to acreativeitch [2013-11-22 16:31:31 +0000 UTC]

Better in every possible way, it's a subjective thing, what one considers better. Realism is just style of choice.
