Description
Luckie seems to be thinking here but she could be just zoning outThis pic, like all in this series, has been cleaned up a lot and altered because the original pictures came out very dark, as I took them w/o flash.

The grainy texture gives it an art house feel. There's a pleasing level of detail too. I think this turned out really well, although not being able to use flash for close shots (or just having a camera with a horrible flash like mine is) is a nuisance in low-light conditions, particularly during the drab winter months. I'd be interested to know your clean-up technique.

I've been amazed for years how some of my favorite, even best, pics are ones that are almost completely black when I get them off the camera. But then when I adjust the levels (moving up light, down dark so only shown range appears) and voila! I see the picture.
That's what I did with this one. Next I desaturated so it's black and white, and then I believe I added in some light noise via Photoshop.
Another technique I like, which deliberately breaks up / ages a pic, is to use the Diffuse filter in PS and then repeatedly sharpen. That takes away detail but I like the distressed look. If you do it on a color photo along with color adjustments it will look like an antique silk.
