Description One of four old Ginkgo trees at Place de la République, Strasbourg

The trees were gifted around 1880 by the Japanese emperor Mutsuhito to the kaiser Guillaume I of Prussia and hold the world record in girth width (see www.monumentaltrees.com/en/tre… )

That's awesome. We have one big male and one big female in our neighborhood. They are fascinating trees for sure.

Nice pic. I see you like blurring the background! Maybe some new, bright lens would make you happier

Sure, there are times when I carry several lenses. However this was on vacation and I was taking snapshots. This image I liked especially, so I did some minor editing in PS until I was satisfied with the overall look and feel.

Thank you! I did some googling for these trees and found they are indeed one of the largest ginkgo trees in the world.

And seemingly these particular ginkgo trees in Strasbourg even hold a record in girth width: www.monumentaltrees.com/en/tre…

I did some googling and it seems they are at least 130 years old. According to one source the four ginkgo trees at the place de la République in Strasbourg were "offered by the japanese emperor Mutsuhito around 1880 to the kaiser Guillaume Ier from Prussia". (see: www.monumentaltrees.com/en/fra…

if it is in Strasbroug, 250-280 years maximum.
