He'd never led a true pack. A wolf of few words but of strong actions, he was suited best as a Beta. A sword to be wielded by a deserving Master. As long as words and ideals were worth fighting for, his pack could count on his shrewd sense of tactics, unyielding spirit in combat, and his tireless effort. Still, even when the words of his once most respected Leader became weak and the ideals became flimsy politics, there was one thing left that all in the pack could count on from Logan Silentrun, and that was fairness.

The stubborn gray would not fight to the tune of a battle-cry he did not agree with. And so he left.

A loner by nature and by choice, he was nonetheless charismatic. A loose affiliation was made and nurtured with the outlying packs, and he became a trusted and valued adviser, ally, and friend. Eventually, a stranger came to his lands...a spirited female who had been exiled from her pack for reasons not unlike the conditions under which he'd left his own. Hunting partners became a pair, and a pair became a small family when only one of their pups survived the bleak winter. Such is the gamble of a pair of wolves who have no pack.

Still, by all of his friends in the valley, Logan was regarded with almost legendary respect. Though Wielder would have few memories of her life as a pup, she would always remember sun-soaked mornings and mountain paths, her father's breath swirling into the dewy mist around them, his spring green eyes regarding her with attention unwavering, and his keen ears twitching to the sound of her squeaky voice. He spoke little on those mornings and adopted instead the attitude of listener to the pup rather than speaker.

Years later when as an adult, tested by time and life's challenges, she would travel through the territory she'd lived in as a pup, old friends would remark about how life had proven that she was, indeed, Logan Silentrun's daughter.
