I would have really liked to see this picture without the overlapping image. It clutters the photo and is a bit redundant (visually and conceptually). The speaks for itself and the ghost image creates a sort of visual noise that I find distracting. Once again I'm reminded of Francesca Woodman (by the primary photo).
I think the ghost image makes me very aware that I'm looking at a photograph that someone manipulated and it keeps me at the surface of the image. Perhaps playing with the placement a bit..? I don't know. I think that either one of these images stands well enough on their own because they are both very strong. Perhaps that's why I find it so distracting; they are both fighting for attention.
