Description

I'm ending this series on Entry 50 with the Daleks from the 2019 TV story “Resolution” and the 2021 TV story “Revolution of the Daleks”

The Reconnaissance Scout is a “self-built” casing for a stranded Dalek, as seen in "Resolution" in 2019.

In 2021's "Revolution of the Daleks", which is set in early 2021, we see these “Defense Drones”, which were human-built casings meant to be used as remote security devices. However, they had secretly been loaded with advanced technology hidden on board and ready to be occupied by Kaled mutant clones that had their genetic material diluted with human DNA.

Those "Earthborn" (my term) Daleks are what the occupied drone casings become once a mutant is inserted. All external lighting that had previously been blue has turned red, but otherwise the exteriors are identical.

Hunting these abominations are "genetically pure" Death Squad Daleks. Inexplicably, these Daleks have the same manipulator attachment as the "defense drone" casings, and I cannot recall there being a reason given in the story why they have these attachments instead of the more traditional 'sucker arms'.

While this closes out my 50-entry series on Daleks, there are more out there to be drawn. Whether I tackle them or not is yet to be seen. I have partially completed the rear and side views of the 'stained glass' one from "The Order of the Daleks", but the glass panels are irritating me at the moment, both in coming up with original ones to cover unseen sections, and in then redrawing panels to represent angled views. Some day I'll either finish it, or my laptop will croak, eating the work-in-progress file. Either option is equally likely.

I also have a little housekeeping to do with a couple of the earlier entries. As much as I liked my speculation on a post-2005 Dalek Hatchery model, I've kept to canonical models for all the other entries, so I may go back and swap out a classic series Hatchery Dalek. I also have to replace one of my "Genesis of the Daleks" entries to eliminate a duplication.
