Description

Credit where credit is due! First off, I’m using this lengthy text description for both the “Captain Hawkins” and “Captain Khellian” assignment charts since I want to make sure all artists are properly attributed in both works. Not every ship or logo appear in both charts, but there’s enough crossover to merit the repetition. The chart designs were made to closely, but not identically, match JBOBROONY’s preferred ship chart style.

When I used another artist’s ship or logo as a basis for mine, I make many changes to each of the ship models, whether to hull shapes, color schemes, and/or design details. Most of the ships here are based on the work of JBOBROONY ( www.deviantart.com/jbobroony ). Ships made by other designers, but are original to me in this scale, are: the Akula and Qapla’ classes. The Vanguard class is original to me. I’ve only worked up the profile view, but I imagine the front view would show that the secondary hull would be wider than a Sovereign class and that the navigational deflector would be oval instead of round, FYI.

Canon ships in these images (Saber, New Orleans, Excelsior, Intrepid) were designed and/or detailed (listed in alphabetical order) by David Carson, Ricardo Delgado, Doug Drexler, Steve Gawley, John Eaves, Bill George, Alex Jaeger, Greg Jein, Nilo Rodis-Jamero , Andrew Probert, and Rick Sternbach.

The Starfleet Academy logo was designed by Mike and Denise Okuda. Starfleet Command logo designer is unknown. Both images came from Memory Alpha, with minor edits (ex: SFA logo’s tint was adjusted from the version on Memory Alpha, and both were resized). The Utopia Planitia Logo came from akiraclass.wikifoundry.com/pag… . There was some tint and size adjustments made from the original. I believe the original was an Okuda design as well. The Starbase Perseus One logo is an original design by Wild Endeavour (me) to match the style of the Okuda logos. The starbase it represents is supposed to be Starfleet’s newest (early 25th century) starbase in the Perseus Arm of the Milky Way Galaxy, some 243 light-years from Earth.

“Soft” Canon Ships (Luna and Odyssey) were designed, respectively, by Sean Tourangeau (on DA: www.deviantart.com/stourangeau ) and Adam Ihle (on DA: www.deviantart.com/ihlecreatio… ). The Luna class was designed for the ST: Titan series of novels (and later was added to STO) and the Odyssey class was the winning design for Star Trek Online’s “Design the Next Enterprise” contest.

Non-Canon/Fan Ships:

    ·        The Akula class is from the Akyazi Class Perimeter Ship created by Todd Allan Guenther, 1993. A scanned copy of his book can be found at www.cygnus-x1.net/links/lcars/…

    ·        The Apollo class… I cannot find its original source. It might have been a ship created for a video game or for an RPG, but I was not able to find a definitive original artist or source. The model I used, originally a JBOBROONY creation, was modified fairly extensively in colors, details, and overall sensor pod profile. I based my modifications on the CGI version created by Eric Peterson, which can be found at: i.pinimg.com/originals/94/c5/f…

    ·        The Deneva class freighter was designed by artist ReverendTrigster (Kris, last name unknown), date unknown. Link to the design: www.trekships.org/deneva.htm . Artist is also on DA: www.deviantart.com/reverendtri… , but it looks like they have moved away from technical drawings and onto comic book style character work. It also looks like they have not been active for some time.

    ·        The Joshua class was created by Lora Johnson (published under the name Shane Johnson, which still appears on the images which is why I’m including both names in the attributions), pre-1995. A scanned copy of her blueprints can be found at www.cygnus-x1.net/links/lcars/…

    ·        The Qapla’ class is based on the design created by Kevin McNulty, 1994. A scanned copy of his book can be found at www.cygnus-x1.net/links/lcars/… . The biggest liberty I took with this design was to change the Bussard collector cap and some nacelle detailing to look more “Klingon”.

    ·        The Vanguard is my own kitbash of the Sovereign class. It’s meant to be the Sovereign class’s equivalent of the Constitution : Reliant, Ambassador : Apollo, and Galaxy : Nebula pairings. The ship was built from parts of the JBOBROONY Sovereign class, a sensor pod I redrew from online sources, and original nacelles (which were a pain in the butt, but worth it).

CHARACTERS:

Captain Gaius Khellian is my OC STO character, who was largely based on my character from old (late 80’s/early 90’s) RPG scenarios, transposed into the Star Trek Online (STO) era. He’s a Romulan/Human male from the Vulcan Science Colony of Nisus. On both sides of his family he is second-generation born on Nisus. I prefer the Diane Duane approach to the Romulan (Rihannsu) species, and consider her Star Trek novels as part of my personal Trek canon. The Nisus Colony comes from Jean Lorrah’s novel “The IDID Epidemic”.

Captain Jack Hawkins is an Earth-born Human male, based on a friend’s character from those same late 80’s/early 90’s RPG scenarios, transposed to the STO era.
