Story:
After taking a break from the track, Kat had felt that Tap might be ready for a race. So much rested on the filly and yet she didn't seem to care. The filly had shown a slight increase in concentration over the past few months and seemed to realize she needed to win. Kat was starting to enjoy working Tap a lot more and had entered her in a maiden race. Tap snorted as Kat chattered to the filly while grooming her. Tap lowered her head as Kat rubbed her behind the ears before putting her bridle on. Phil appeared at the door and led the filly to the cross ties outside so she could be saddled. "Nice of you to help", Kat thanked the vet. "How could I not help a pretty woman", Phil replied with a smirk. Kat glared at him "Not the time to flirt. Or be a jerk. Can you check Tap's legs please", Kat finished. Phil just grinned and ran his hands over Tap's legs. Tap took the opportunity to nibble on his belt. "Hey stop it! She's sound", Phil replied. Kat giggled and gave Tap a pat.

Leading Tap outside, Kat glanced at the other horses and studied their forms. Not many of these horses she had seen before. Phil stopped and grinned wickedly "Are you studying the horses or the men?", Kat turned and glared at him "The horses. Now go find some other unfortunate soul to torture", she replied punching him in the arm. "Oww, hey that hurt", Phil replied giving Kat puppy eyes. "Good", Kat replied and mounted Tap. "Why is our vet such a..." Kat thought to herself as she did her best to calm down. Tap started to prance and buck a little. Focusing, Kat pushed the filly into a gallop to relax them both.

Once in the gate Kat and Tap were focused and ready. The filly snorted and stomped her foreleg. As the bell rang, Tap shot out a little fast. Kat slowed the filly down and brought her just outside the leaders. Kat saw a familiar face near her and pushed Tap a little faster. Kat kept Tap near the leaders and the filly was ready to make her move. As the front runners tired out Kat pushed Tap to the front almost cutting off Scotch as the filly blazed forward. "Come on baby, make your parents proud". Kat whispered and encouraged the filly.
