Airi's devil fruit!
I figured that I shouldn't make it particularly colurful, since canon devil fruits never show an appearance related to the powers they grant.
Here is the detailed info~
- Basic:
English translation: Color Color Fruit
Alternative name: Niji Niji no Mi (Rainbow Rainbow Fruit)
Appearance: Round, with red and white swirly stripes and one large green leaf. The red sections have spiral markings.
General power: Manipulation of colours. The user can change the colour of any object (or person) at will. Though mostly by touch, objects at a distance can also be affected, but the farther away the object is, the more difficult and the more energy it requires.
Use in battle: Hardly an offensive ability, Airi had to develop it and adapt it to her fighting style with various concrete techniques. See below.
Spethific techniques:
- Iro Iro no Fūsen (Colour Colour Balloon): Used more for entertainment than actual battle, she creates a ball of changing colours that splatters its surroundings with colours if exploded. She likes playing with it as it it was a balloon; but Apoo does not appreciate his ship being splattered with rainbow.
- Iro Iro no Fukashi (Colour Colour Invisibility): Her body changes automatically to match the colours behind her; but takes a few seconds, so it’s not very useful while in fast movement.
- Iro Iro no Shīrudo (Colour Colour Shield): The user creates an ethereal spherical membrane around herself, which reflects light and colour. Barely a shield, this may bend away light-based attacks, like laser beams or sometimes even bullets, when in a wide angle.
- Iro Iro no Kōsen (Colour Colour Beam): Shoots a narrow, quick beam of light that pierces through the objective and explodes. Leaves a trail of colour in its wake, and the explosion alters the surrounding colours. This attack does considerable damage, but requires much energy from the user. It also needs a few seconds to charge, requiring the concentration of the user, which renders them defenseless for a short while.

There's a non-canon Devil Fruit called the Iro Iro no Mi now. It let's the user (Psycho P) make paint that camoflages themselves or other things and/or disguise themselves. I think your version is better though.

The weird thing about devil fruits is that the ability to change and manipulate color can actually include the use of an invisible or non-existent color for invisibility. It doesn't have to make sense just follow the rules of the fruit.

All devil fruits have a certain something that they do. In this case it changes color. However, changing colors can still be stretched to include transparent colors like how the numa numa no mi's ability to repel things extends to concepts like pain and fatigue neither of which technically has a physical presence to push.

Well, technically, "transparent" isn't a colour; not even the absence of it. That term would be "colourless", and is a characteristic only present in transparent substances, unless you do not consider white as a colour. A transparent substance can be coloured; the alternative to transparency is in fact opacity. Colour and opacity are completely different things. This devil fruit controls colour, not opacity; therefore, it's not really making the user invisible or transparent - it's just matching their colours to the ones behind them.

Right I understand that. My point was that even if there isn't an unseeable color the fruit could MAKE one. Consider the noro noro no mi, it shoots beams of a kind of light that slows objects. I have taken enough physics classes to know about light and transparent, translucent, opaque, etc. Regardless the fruits all subvert natural laws. Not that this argument matters its your creation after all. I'm just saying that it sounds like you can become see-through/invisible.

Mine is the niji niji no mi rainbow rainbow fruit an object for example turned red makes it hot,a person will become angry,blue item cold human sad an so on,urs isnt a bad version either.

That seems very wide and ambiguous, since colour has no effect or relation with the temperature or mood of objects or people, unless you count synesthaesia, which varies greatly from person to person anyway, so it could not be a set relation for each hue.

Well for one its anime so anything can will and shall be able to happen,Two colors go with moods if u never heard of it look it up,for example red in the face angry,all down and blue sad,Green with envy so yea its like mr.3's lackey so rather you or anyone here doesnt like it or say tht cant happen cause its anime not real theres nothing that cant happen.

I don't need to look up anything, I've spent over two years researching about intra-sensorial exchange and I am a synesthete myself. What you're talking about is pure synesthaesia, and the colour associations you mention are nothing but generalised conceptions, that may vary greatly from person to person. For me, red is not anger - it's passion, black being the colour for hate and anger instead. Society has raised us to have very clear, generalised associations (danger signs, smileys, the deadly sin of envy, ect), but in a different community it may be a completely different set of hues. (Unless you believe in the Platonic theory of ideas, in which I do not. I look at knowledge from the Aristoteles point of view, which I find more rational.)
I like to keep reasoning and logic inside fantasy, giving meaning and mechanics to magic. But if you just want to throw a bunch of random characteristics to vague, ambiguous and unexplainable superpowers, then go ahead; it's your own character.
Miss Goldenweek's powers do not come from a devil fruit but they are rather a special hypnotizing ability she has learned by herself. "It works through the use of a symbol painted onto something a person may stand on or painted onto them directly", as explainde in the One Piece wikia.
And it's not that I don't like your character's powers and I'm arguing with you to attack it; I could very well just ignore your post and be on my way. But instead, since I like debate and I consider myself quite knowledgeable in this area, I decided to correct you and give you a little advice.

I'd just like to say that both your ideas are great and also, saying that red is passion but not hate makes no sense at all. Hatred is born of passion, passion is general and encompasses love, anger, heat (as in a physical manifestation of the passion you are feeling).
but still both of you have cool ideas for similar fruits.

It's really cool! I made a similiar Devil-Fruit in one of my stories (Reiki-Reiki No Mi ((Aura-Aura Fruit))) it doesn't do much except change the users eye color according to her mood though

Oh, I did think about the relation between colours and moods -I am sinesthetic, as is my character- but, the thing is, there is already a Devil Fruit with that power. I don't know what her name is- a little girl in the baroque works.

Thank you very much! ^^ Yeah, I looked at the info we have on canon fruits, and none share any traits with the actual power. The Gum Fruit doesn't seem elastic, for example, and the "Darkness Fruit" is not even of a dark colour.

Niji Niji no Mi, huh... I had considered that name for the fruit, but I suppose it's almost the same. If I remember correctly, in One Piece somebody wrote a book listing all the Devil Fruits existing. But I don't think everybody just gets access to that information, so one fruit may have more that one name.

Nah, I'd just leave it ambiguous, since it's just really an excuse for our characters not to "cancel each other out". (not that it matters much anyway) They're really the same. xD
