Description I am not sure how to identify this little plant, but it's the first flower of spring where I live. I thought it was Bloodroot, but I'm not sure that even grows here. It takes a while to walk out to where these plants grow (only one spot that I know of); but for me each April it's like a tradition, to try and see these during the few days that they bloom before they are gone...

These look like Rue Anemones, from the leaves.  Usually they don't have as many petals, but the number of petals varies a lot.

Thanks, many of my photos end up having a painting effect b/c of the amount of filtering usually needed to try and clear up the pixelation, which can be very bad sometimes with these inexpensive cameras... Not that the paint effect is a bad thing, usually it is quite nice...

There is a group out there called Foto-Imp which calls for photos that have been heavily filtered until they resemble impressionist paintings. I had one that was sort of impressionist-y which the founder asked to include in the gallery. But that is the only recent one I've made that was anything close to what most of the members there are doing.

hehe, these are not really what could be called impressionism (think Van Gogh's "Starry Night" which is a classic example of impressionism, which most of his late work was); but now that the subject has come up again, I'm thinking about how some of my pix could be made to look that way... Fractalius is another filter (paid software, it has a newer version but I refuse to pay for the upgrade) which can be used for that purpose and can do some astonishing things.

Thank you and I have many more.

I just realized I had pix in storage; but what with all the trouble in my life since those were made, I had forgotten all about actually processing and submitting them. It was "hit and miss" for a time. I remember some were uploaded over at Wordpress but after a while I had to just quit making anything except fractal quickies. I also have a handful of spring pix from last year which I never got around to processing and using either. It's time now to try and get caught up on all of this. I'm a little rusty at using my various photo filters but with a couple days' practice it will go more smoothly.
