Wow this is a really neat concept! I can kinda of imagine what it would looking like if the wind blew through the leaves in the same fashion that they twist into. Is this a common tree? a whole forest of these would look interesting!
The colors you picked are nice I have been looking for inspiration to add contrasting colors to show texture and and light.

I wonde rif I could bonsai something like that Nice idea, and it may not be as far-out as we would imagine. I sometimes see confider-like trees in gardens that twist around themselves as they grow, one in a neighbourhood I used to see a lot I even named "twisty tree" since it was not pruned into that shape, the leaves just formed the same pattern as here on its own...just green instead of orange

I was browsing around and saw your trees and I just had to click to take a closer look, awesome vortex trees, the canopy reminds me of a DNA helix, I love it that even the roots follow the vortex.
