Characters from the story I'm writing with DaQUIET-1.USS Dwight D. Flysenhower: Nimitz Class Super Carrier, minor character
Discovery: Space shuttle, minor character
Karn: Experimental Aircraft, secondary villian (I messed up his face)
Annabelle: Side character, MV-22 Osprey, a singer by profession
Raine: Orphaned pup, adopted by Quet's character Nova in the second book, Mi-26 helicopter.
Juno: Experimental Aircraft, mother of a main character, been living in the woods for 40 years.
Springer: Experimental Aircraft, half brother of a main character, guard are a secret research facility, unknown part in book
Trace Fairweather: Son of Lynn Fairweather, weakened by a fualty engine, never met his dead father, main(ish) character. Jayhawk helicopter
Shale Fairweather: Brother of Lynn Fairweather, Trace's uncle. Minor character

I've had quite a lot of practice drawing Space Shuttles, as you probably know, but I still find the shape of their wings tricky.

I actually find their wing shape to be easier than that of airplanes. Mostly because I'm used to working with smooth lines more I think... but for me the face is most difficult.

I agree, faces are definitely not easy! I probably don't make things easy for myself, as I'm a bit of a stickler for detail, and I like my living machines to look realistic. As an example, here's my latest living machine character, Aquila, an F-14D Super Tomcat:

I switch from a sort of partial realism to a very cartoon style, especially for dragons. With vehicles It's quite cartooned as well.

I've never tried doing a strongly cartoon style; to be honest, I'd be worried about making a mess of things If I tried such a style.
As for Aquila, she and Disco are great friends, following Disco's training at TOPGUN, and Disco sometimes visits TOPGUN as a guest instructor, at Aquila's invitation. The TOPGUN students, skilled though they are, have a very hard time against Aquila; when Disco and Aquila team up, they give the students nightmares.....

As a things, it takes practice. I'm glad I've grown my art as of lately, the reason why this account is now all but abandoned. I've switched to a more fitting name.

You're right, Disco and Aquila are a great team! Something that Aquila and Disco like to do is to take on Raptors in mock dogfights, particularly if the Raptors have been bragging about their dogfighting skills. The Raptors very quickly find themselves eating humble pie when they get their tails handed to them by Disco and Aquila!

Raptors are a crazy lot hu? I have a few Raptor ocs, though most are rather well behaved and humble, if not anxious and self continous.

Some of them certainly are! Disco and Aquila just don't like those Raptors who are disparaging towards Tomcats and Shuttles, so they show them (by thrashing their tails in a dogfight) that Shuttles and Tomcats are not to be underestimated.

Definitely! Unfortunately, some Raptors won't accept being defeated by a Space Shuttle and a Tomcat, so they keep challenging Disco and Aquila to dogfights
