Description
From the San Diego Comic-Con 2008 comes cooking V!I've been meaning to get around to posting something regarding my single devoted entry into Cosplay, but it was hard to get good pictures together, as my own tended to be poor due to my limited visibility in costume.
My eternal thanks go to Mike Rollerson, who out of the sea of photographers waiting outside the Masquerade, was the only one to take and post such spectacular pictures! Without him, I'd never have seen the other contestants in any detail nor myself!
I'm posting this in Crafts>Other, because my costume is such a grab bag of self made, designed, and re-purposed parts. Of the whole suit, the Mask was by far the most time taking and strenuous part for me. It is personally handmade in casting plastic, and painted to match the movie version. Lightweight, sturdy, and not as ungodly oversized as the cheap plastic version!
I custom designed the doublet with tailor assistance, and hand altered the apron to my frilly satisfaction. The painted burlap gloves were a fun, clean, and cheap alternative to the scar make-up I'd been using up to this point, and largely turned out well! No putty mess at the very least!
I also made the convention safe daggers and belt, though they are not a part of this version of the costume. There are NO official parts in this costume at all. The Rubies stuff is terrible!

This scene of the movie made me laaaaaaaaaaugh because this is the only other person (real or fictitious) that I have seen sling a dish towel over his/her shoulder other than my mother. I have seen MANY people cooking or cleaning in the kitchen but I have only seen my mother and V sling a dish towel over the shoulder. LOL!

How did you get your wig to work? Did you trim it at all? If so, with what?
I'm making my own, but I'm using the plastic mask which I added to. Wish I could make one on my own xD

(Sorry for getting back to this so late, I'm only FINALLY catching up to my comments sections with all my projects wrapped up.)
It's an unfortunately discontinued "cleopatra" wig from Cosworx/Cosplay.com. If you can find a straight medium length wig with sizeable bangs it should work to cover the mask top lip which is all you really need, though the plastic mask sticks out a bit farther to my recollection.

I found you!
You did that wickedly funny parody of V on youtube!
Since I can't view a high resolution version of the video, (bad, echo'y audio) I could only make out 80% of your monologue. Is there a transcript available, perhaps? (I do realize this was some time ago.)
Delighted by how you tweaked V's original introductory dialogue to include his cooking and too much vodka. ROFL.
Icing on the cake was the parting, "Evey, your breakfast is ready!" Your voice was PERFECT.
I can only hope that you'll one day film that skit again, (but with more refined actions and posture) and eventually posting it on youtube.
I'll be an absolute HIT.

You made me realize I've never added a link to it here on DA, so I've now posted it to my gallery to make up for that fact. I happened to have a higher quality audio feed than most of the crowd footage, it just took me a while to cobble everything together. Hopefully you can make it all out finally! Glad you enjoyed, it seemed to go over well with the crowd.

PERFECT. I loved that part in the movie where he was wearing an apron. xD The graphic novel is monumentally better but it's still a pretty dang cute idea.
Either way you make a pretty badass V. Points for having the dedication to make your own mask!! How the heck did you do it? Did you sculpt it first and then make a mold out of it or what? I'm thinking of making my own so I was just curious. :3
beasttt costume though dude. Excellent job. <33
