Other title: Bachmann Crossing Gates May 26, 2023 (Date picture was taken.)First of all I'm very sorry about the slant and tilt in the picture, this should have been straighter and angled better!
Now something more exciting than the last few pictures I've been submitting: my HO scale Bachmann Dual Crossing Gate Set with actual lights inside the signals! How I lit these, I know I said in my previous pictures that the LEDs I had, the white LEDs, had burned out
however, not too many days later some other LEDs I happened to order came and I ended up using those instead. Those are red LEDs inside the signals. They are similar to the LEDs I used in this signal
except these are not the Model Modz LEDs, these are the 20pcs Pre-wired 30awg Wire SMD LED 0603 Light Lamps with Resistor for 12V. I bought these, and the crossing gates, on eBay www.ebay.com/itm/195361869486?… Unlike the white LEDs that I also bought from eBay but from a different vender, these LEDs come with resistors already soldered on them and that seems to work better for me, best as a matter of fact! I didn't plan on using red-lighted LEDs for these signals, well I did but then decided I wanted white LEDs, but since all my white LEDs are dead, I'm going to be using red LEDs on these signals until I can obtain some pre-wired 30awg Wire warm white SMD LED 0603 Light Lamps with resistor for 12V!
So now this crossing doesn't just have gates that will go down automatically on train's arrival but now has flashing lights for added realism and warning for my "HO scaled" drivers, bikers, and pedestrians. But I don't have a bell sound for this and I don't plan to get one, just lights and gates.
The LEDs are wired to an FL-2HD flasher unit from Circuitron (although a regular FL-2 flasher unit works just fine) and powered by a 12V AA Battery holder connected to a 9V battery snap connector. I also set the lights to continual flash for now so the lights flash even when there's no train present but I have a way to make the lights flash only when a train is present and time out when the train clears.
I know I'm not the first person to do this, I know some other model railroaders do this. I'm just glad to be one more person to do this, and best of all, I have my own and I can look at and play with this anytime I want, no need to rely on other model railroaders!
And yes that's a train far in the background.
I hope you like it and thanks for looking and thanks in advance for any favorites. F2U but please credit me for my photo, and again I'm sorry about the angle of my phone camera!
I have another picture of this but with the other light on
