one of my favourite Primes i have in my Prime Collection (along with the AoE G1 redeco of it), you've pulled his design off really well.

Classics Prime did a nice design, I must say. Definitely one of the better ones.

Nice pic of Optimus. I have this figure and you drew this very nicely. Thank you for allowing your picture to be in the group.

Let's face it- there can be only one. The coolest leader in any cartoon series. He's not young, or unexperienced, or unsure, or anything like that. That's a solid warrior with a long past of war.
And he can make his trailer dissappear and reappear at will.

I think this is a better Modren look for Optimus Prime

i like how you "bulked" him up. looks real nice, specially the upper torso. in keeping to the classical look though, the legs fall short of the rest of the body. I think I might have tweaked it, to make them match the bulk of the upper body, regardless of whether or not it would "work" as far as transforming.
but Ive never tried to draw a transformer so i guess I cant say anything.
Keep it up!

Ah, the classic fist-clenched, 'I am so going to PWN you' pose. Perfect!
You should try doing Classics Megs in a 'regal, looming figure' pose; the wings would work well for that kind of pose.

His design here has something of a Gundam feel to it.

how do you draw and colour tranformers like that. any tips

WillMangin In reply to ma97k [2007-05-03 11:51:04 +0000 UTC]
never use a ruler, lots of erasing, do most of your cleanup in photoshop!
jk
for this piece i had a couple of references (my revoltech prime for the pose and angle, and makotron's own drawing of the same version of prime for the details and some color reference.)
other than that, i usually start my drawings very very lose... i sketch it out, then blow it up in photoshop to the size i want to have the end drawing, lightboard that sketch, and make the line clean and solid from there. it helps lots when you color it.

This is so awesome! Could you please tell me the name of the Transformer that turns into a tape recorder? That's my boyfriend's favorite Transformer, and I want to do a drawing for him.
