it's been a sort of tradition of mine (or... at least i'm making it a tradition) since transformers armada to do a rough sketch of the new prime design once it's leaked... i mean... uh... unveiled.anywho, this is a sketch of optimus prime from the upcoming "transformers: classics" line... it's sort of a neo G1 line from what has been shown so far.

Excellent drawing of an amazing figure. I own one, and I'm very proud of it - I consider it a definitive, though alternate, incarnation of Peter Cullen's original Prime. I can accept that because I'm a Gundam fan... they are ALWAYS redesigning the robots in that show after the show ends.

Question: How do you get your perspective so well? Also, how do you start off?
I have been wanting to draw a TF character, but school and my Artshow takes up my time. This summer I am going to draw as many!

this is pretty close to how i start off... it's a big mess of lines usually and then i start blocking things. >< then i keep going over what looks right or close to it until the picture starts to make sense. (if that made any sense).

Way cool. XD Some of the design elements remind me of the deluxe anniversary Optimus Prime figure that was released a year or so ago, especially the torso. I hope the new figure proves just as cool.

Impressive as always and thanks for keeping the infos up to date for sure.Looks like they decided to get back to basic,like Gundam Seed series,instead of keep making a better and more powerful Prime.
The one in "Transformers:Galaxy Force" probably had more fire power than the previos ones but at the same time,there's a strong feel that it is almost impossible to improve the designs any further for the next series.

true... and it's sorta like the gundam series in how they handle optimus everytime. you always got that one gundam in the gunam series that resembles (if ever so slightly) the original rx-78.

True but there's no denying that Gundams have always been about the face just like Optimus Prime has always been about unconditional compassion,courage,leadership & face too.More or less understand why they keep Gundam's basic face designs because of the large amount of details.
Back in the 70's,most of the robots always have funky face designs but the original Gundam probably had the most detailed & practical head design for the 70's,despite the lack of funkiness in designs.Perhaps the sequel,"Mobile Suit----Z[Zeta] Gundam",is responsible for starting the tradition in some extend.

really awesome, i just hope the actual toy has is as good looking as the sketch, and you did a great job on yours too, the way you did the head kinda reminds me of the giant prime from the star saber series, you don't hapen to have a pencil sketch of lio kaizer somewhere, do you?

heh, we'll see...though I started watching the english Cybertron...kinda drives me nuts...especially since I'm used to Nitro and not Override...>.<;;; the voices are slightly annoying too...

*shudders* I want to kill a lot of them, I noticed several had accents, which kinda drove me nuts really...though I swear, Prime's voice is the same from the BW Primal and the same goes with the Megs...

those voice actors have been the same ones for bw, armada, energon, and cybertron... might be the same two guys (gary chalk - prime and david kaye - megatron) the only series recently where they had different v.a.'s for those two was robots in disguise. prime was voiced by neil kaplan (who i really like as prime actually) and megatron by daniel riordan

hm, I didn't' watch much of Armada or Energon...unless you count SL...>.>;;; which I liked actually....and I'm guessin Cybertron kinda went like Energon cause I liked the original versions of both, though I haven't seen enough of Energon to really tell if it was good or not...but I liked those guys's voices at least...X3
How about this then, though I've written it before...the dude who does Volfogg's voice does Grand Convoy (TF Superlink) voice...XD and Roadbuster's voice actor is also Mic Sounders the 13th, and Jetfire is the same as Cyborg Guy! Ha! I know the Japanese actors better than the english ones!!! XDDD

ha! i didn't know that about the japanese voice actors. most of the english v.a.'s i only remember cause i've met them at cons and/or drawn stuff for them. XD

With the exception of his gun, which i find to be a little bulky and weird, i really love where you've taken Optimus Prime here. I like how you added that shell of the cab to his forearms, they remind me of Grimlock. The chest area and his head look pretty bad-ass as well.
