The merger with Dell was a win-win situation for all parties involved. Alienware did it for more financial stability, better marketing, and general improvement of service, while Dell got more money from it all in the long run. Alienware still owns full production and management rights for thier products.

So is Alienware still responsible for creating the artwork then? I'm looking into using their artwork under license for my Laptop Lap Trays. I assume I will have to get in touch with their licensing department.

As far as I know, yes. Alienawre still holds the rights to everything they did before the merger. Dell merely holds a piece of paper confirming that they hold majority shares. Regardless of who owns what, however, you will always want to get in touch with the company in question before you use their copyrighted content. Good luck!
