I've read a lot of TF fan fiction involving these cute little guys. But I'm not officially sure if these Sparklings are cannon to any other Transformers shows and comics other then being shown in the third movie and the TF movie comics.The TF movie comic shown these little guys in various pages, but they were called Hatchlings instead of Sparklings. I wonder if Cybertronian can breed through spark merging or similar of how humans do it?
This what I think they would look like if they made a appearance in Transformers Prime.
Here is Mech sparkling who is a Seekerling, and a Femme Sparkling that is a grounder. Also I decided to draw other Sparklings to get a good idea of how they came to be. Yeah, I decided to go by gender even though some people are going to argue against that.

Wheelie had parents and one if the comics ( can't remember which one) there sparklings in them. So I guess they are cannon, but are an expectation.

I personally think that sparklings are made through two bonded mech and femme and grows for a certain time with in one of the two ( hopefully the femme ) and then is transferred to a biological shell which grows them further until they hatch or birth.

I don't think they'll ever choose a method of how Transformers are born. And if they do I doubt it's gonna through sexual reproduction, because that would mean a part of them would be organic and many continuities have stated that transformers have phobias of anything soft and moist and in other are fascinated by thing that are.
Honestly it just boggles my mind thinking about it and I can feel what little sanity I have slipping out my head as I do...

I'm late, usually don't reply to very old comments, but there's away for them to sexually reproduce without being oragnic. I have a headcanon of one. A male cybertron gives his female mate a floppy disk and she 3d prints them out.

I mean did you see the way Hatchlings get out of their chambers covered in organic or synthetic organic slime, during the second movie?
Besides the Cybertronians race don't have to physically organic to develop that way, but there doing a really good job intimidate them. ( who knows maybe some part of them is organic or mechanically organic.)

I think Cybertronians breed in a combination of spark merging, and human reproduction methods. The spark merge helps to ignite the fluids in a mech/femme's reproduction chamber(s) to start creating nanites and certain glands to secret fluid that will help to support the mech and femme's gestation and development of needed structures to support the growing sparkling inside.

Do Mechs have Spikes and valves and Femmes only have valves? Because that been used a lot in many fan fictions.
And if its only breeding without spark merging, the femme or the submissive Mech won't get pregnant?

Well true, but there have been cases of a Cybertronian have both a value and spikes.
And I suppose that can happen that the submissive mech or femme won't get pregnant if they don't spark merge.
