EDIT: Now that I have my computer and scanner hooked up, I rescanned this and it's MUCH closer to the original. Oh man, I'm sorry about the version I put up. The scanner messed with all the colors. If you're interested in seeing the old scan, you can still see it here: [link] )The fiery birth and death of the phoenix makes us think of awakening and rebirth. However, rebirth isn't necessarily something as dramatic as the phoenix rising from its own ashes. It can be something as simple as a flower pushing through the early snows of spring. It is the saplings growing where a volcano covered the land with ash. It can even be the realization of one's own self, and the determination to change for the better.
This is a quick commission for ~Feeniks-92 that I spent more time on than I planned.

Beautiful. I have always loved the phoenix. The simple background focuses all the attention on the subject and takes nothign away. Maybe I woudl have used a slightly stronger contrast colour but that's just me. I love the colours and the beauty of this piece...but then i love your art in general. XD

Yeah, but the figure itself was all too dark. I figured I either had to get the dark background with a figure that was too dark, or a proper figure with a bit of a lighter background. The background in this is actually a bit closer to the actual piece.

I know what you mean by that and my scanner kills the bright colors that I love to use for my artwork! It's still absolutely stunning!D

It turned out gorgeously m'dear... I love the way the colours work with that cardstock too. This is definitely what I have in mind when people say phoenix. Lovely lovely. Can't wait to see what you start producing when you get into your course at SCAD!

are you a proffesional artist, like do u paint ur pics and scan them, or do u use a tablet?

All of my pictures are traditionally done, meaning I use physical media such as colored pencil, paints, ink, etc.

Your eye for detail is just....wonderful. The details with the feathers, and the colors together...I looove this picture. You really captured a predatory bird's fierceness in the eyes, too, and have a nice sense of flow and movement.
