EDIT 11/4/05: Here's a newly-taken photo of this piece: [link] It's a photo so it's not as detailed as the scan, but the colors are more faithful to the original piece. You can see those greens my scanner couldn't capture.You were there for me when everyone else turned their back on me.
You were so beautiful. That secret you showed me, a beautiful thing created by your hands but pulled straight from your soul. It made your wings shine as if caught by a rainbow, and you only showed it to me. "Someday you will create something like this...that beauty inside will reveal itself in a creation by your hands, and then you will feel beautiful forever."
Someday I will create one...and I will be beautiful like her.
Iolani's mentor, so far unnamed. I hate my scanner for eating the colors. The green in her feathers is much more brilliant on paper.

I love the details, especially her belt, and her hair is lovely, I think it flows very naturally. Nice use of coloured pencils, the colours are very vibrant.
The distance from her neck to her shoulder is a little bit different on the two sides, which makes her look slightly off, but I love the drawing and the meaning behind it

Wow this is so beautiful. I love the colors on the skin and so wish the scanner wouldint do that , but the shades are still wonderful and each feather looks very detailed ~iant The shirt is my favorite colors

Holy cripes Brenda! This came out beautiful*_* I can see what you mean by luminescent feathers. I could spend days oggling all the colors and surfaces you've achieved in her wings. The figure itself is as beautiful as I imagined she would be from her written descriptions. She has a very compassionate gaze^_^ I'd love to see a picture of her teaching a young Iolani how to handle the metal. Great job hon!

I love the color of green and the folds of the dress. The belt is so pretty, the wings are a work of such beautiful detail. I love her eyes, seems she is looking into my soul. Gorgeous!

Thank you. I'm sorry to say that someone dropped a hammer on this piece while we were putting up the art show here at my college >_< So there's a tear right down her face. I fixed it as best I could with tape on the back and colored pencil, but it's still not the same ;_;

In my watercolor painting class, we will have nude models to draw from. I have been looking forward to it, since this is exactly the practice I need. I prefer to use references from real life rather than photos, since I feel it's more natural and true to the form.
