Description

Featuring Kiko and many shamans / members of the herd (TBD)
Autumn, Year 773 of the New Age
Oakfern, The Moonpool

Kiko drowned in deep trance. The shamans around her that had gathered at the moon pool to go through this experience together faded away as the doe sank deeper and deeper into her vision. There was an owl. An owl she knew. She had met them several times and they had announced great and mysterious things. Then there was the moon, glittering and shimmering on her soaked fur. And then there was the water. Kiko drowned into it. It was the first time she experienced the wet taste of water with all her body and soul again. In years she had felt dry and drought even if surrounded by water. But not today. Today it reached right down to her core. And there a whisper emerged 'You'. Kiko perked her ears as the whisper turned into the bubbling ripple of dripping water  ' You ' . Kiko saw the Owl again, circling a fawnling. Kiko first believed it was herself, but as the vision grew clearer it wasn't her. It was a slightly younger fawnling. A Stag. It was Bast. The Oracle. And again she heard a call, growing stronger into the roaring of a waterfall ' You ' it blustered as the Oracle vanished from the vision and the Owl glided over her, the birds shadow hitting her like a falling rock.

With a jerk Kiko left the vision and found herself within it yet in reality. There indeed was an  Owl circling above her head, throwing the shadow upon her. Kiko knew the Owl too well. The bird then they gave room to the moon’s light, flying to a nearby rock near the ceiling of the great cavern of the moonpool. When Kiko looked around her she realized that she must have been in trance longer than the other shamans as they were all looking at her mostly puzzled.

And then realization hit her. Within a split second the vision she had made sense. The repeated visit of the barn owl made sense. It all made sense. And this was the moment where Gealach wanted her to rise. Kiko drew together a pillar of water that rose her just high enough that every shaman even in the last corner of the cave would be able to see her and then rose her voice into the silence of their questioning gazes.

“My brothers and sisters in the face of Gealach. You have witnessed the messenger of God. A celestial spirit that has been calling my name again and again for many moons. My vision was clear today for the first time.” The shamans’ silence deepened. They knew what was going to come. They knew they were about to make a decision. They knew that this was another crossroad.

“King Sigrunn is leading our herd to be as physically strong and present above ground as it can be. But where is our Oracle to lead our other pole - the shamanhood - into the depth of spirituality? We need both. Presence and physical strength and indenting into the power of devotion. Who deepens our Spiritualty? Who amplifies our Devotion? Who enhances our Adoration? It’s not enough to be present at the rituals. We all are present at the rituals. It’s not enough to be faithful. We all are faithful. It’s not enough to pay lip service to Gealach. We all have to prove ourselves in Gealach’s test. But who is there to support each and everyone of us through this test? The Oracle Bast has heard the call when he was considerably young. The weight of Gealach’s will might have pressed too heavily on his shoulders and he has grown less and less presence. The voice of Gealach is hardly heard through his mouth.

What we need is an Oracle that can bear Gealach’s calls and carry them into the herd. Let me be their voice. Let me guide our Shamanhood to grow to its peak and to its roots and deeper than it has ever been. Let me augment the power of spirits and water, of sacrifice and devotion. We all have yet potential to grow into unexpected elation. Let me nurture that potential so it can grow to its fulfillment.”

The white owl gave another screech as if impatient for Kiko to come to an end. With a powerful leap the bird pushed off the rock it had been sitting on and floated down gracefully until it landed on Kiko’s back. The doe hardly moved upon the vibration of the heavy body landing on her. She stood firmly and her voice was clearer than ever before.

“I have been called by this Owl who has chosen to be my companion without any effort on my part.

I have not asked for this, but I have been asked. And now I ask you:

Do you want to accept me, Oathkeeper Kiko, as the voice of Gealach in the chosen herd of the Moon - as your Oracle?”

Dunn, dunn, duuuuuuunn - Kiko had a vision that she presented to her fellow shaman as a call of Gealach for her to become the Oracle during a mass trance!! And so she speaks to her fellow shamans...
Now it is your turn! Your fawnling can react to this turn of things. Does your fawnling approve or rather not? So there are basically two ways to respond. You can choose either or both <3.

Respond with writing:
- Just the normal way of mass RPing: reply to this featured comment , include a link as well with the Name | Herdrank and write your fawnling's response. Your fawnling does not necessarily have to be present at this very scene to give their opinion.

and/or

Participate in the Mass Collab:
There are two ways to participate in the collab.
- Either you request me to send you one of those little crappy sketches (first come, first serve! - claim the numbers in this featured comment and I will send you the sketch asap) and turn it into your fawnling and send it to me (don't forget to include a link).
- or you just create your fawnling (with no legs, as standing in the water) and send that my way without a sketch and I will find a spot to squeeze it in.

I want to keep the collab as easy as possible, so don't worry about size or your artistic skills. Remember: the more the merrier and I really don't mind your skill or style! Nor does Kiko - we just want to encourage as many of you to give some love to your Oakies as possible!

Remember: Kiko is master at magic, so if you let your fawnling connect with their water magic to Kiko's water pillar, you can even gain a nice little addition to your fawnling's stats .

Also keep in mind, that this was taking place during a mass trance which only shamans participate in. However, other fawnlings can just still drop in there, just won't have consumed mushrooms .

Sketches:

1 - ready by nerwen-wilwarin for Medea   6 - open                   11 - open

2 - claimed by DatNachtmaehre for Mikri 7 - ready frees-equines for Tethys    12 - open

3 - ready by Haloclimb for Kara                   8 - open                   13 - ready by LeppsArt for Sirius

4 - open                                                            9 - open                   14 - ready by LeppsArt for Movaria

5 - ready by nerwen-wilwarin for Solban  10 - open

Dead-Line for Mass Collab:

I will leave this open for at least 1 month upon entering the groups gallery. So please send me your fawnling images until the 22nd of June. If you need more time and want to enter, you can always hit me up! The deadline isn't set in stone, just more for the purpose of giving an idea about what I think the timeframe should be. Once the collab is finished, I will post it including the written responses

PS: For those with a big lack of time who still want to participate, there are a couple of tiny sketches that only show hardly anything if you wanna go for minimalism

Tethys | Shaman-in-Training

Tethys | Stag | Shaman-in-Training

It was a huge event. The shamans had gathered and while Tethys wasn't actively involved in the trance (he didn't have the experience for that) he was there, watching, and dreaming of the day it might be him. He was but a young colt, only recently selected to begin his training, and this would be the first time he had seen the new Oracle selected. He watched as the shamans tranced and found his gaze drawn to the owl which had appeared over the moonpool as they did. He watched it as it circled above them and as it gravitated toward Kiko. Gealach himself seeing over the proceedings, expressing his will to all. It seemed to bode well, for why else would the god himself show. It was as the owl focused solely above her that Kiko jerked from her trance, taking a moment to gather herself before speaking to them all.

Her words were awe-inspiring. Tethys could feel himself stir within as she spoke to the gathering - spoke of how they needed to be strong spiritually, of how they had lulled into inactivity which would never do. His eyes burned with passion as he watched her and he knew, deep within, that this was right. Gealach had chosen her, she was the one who could lead them through these testing times. She could take them to new heights, all in the name of their god. The owl had flown to a side now, but it was all too clear. He stepped forward, adding his magic to her own and feeling her strength flow through him and knowing he could only lend her his support. It was Gealach's will and together they could become stronger, better.

"I accept you, Oracle Kiko!" He added his voice, feeling the gravity of this moment. All around them the water moved, bubbling around the new Oracle and forming a pillar beneath her as it lifted her up. Others were arriving to, no doubt they had been drawn by the excitement, and the herd would all see this moment. The moment Kiko claimed her place as the Oracle, and perhaps a moment everything would change for the shamans. A moment he had been a part of, history unfolding before his eyes. There had been times when he had been distant from the herd, living apart from them even as he was amongst them, but this was a moment he was pleased to be one of them. This orphan was finally beginning to feel like he belonged.

 Celebrian  and Alekto

Alekto lifted her head, when suddenly there seemed to be a surprising commotion coming from the Moonpool. Let's be straight, the spotted doe never had been the most religious soul, she wasn't too fond of joining sacrifices, she wasn't too fond of the way the shamans clouded their senses, she wasn't too fond of how the mushrooms had probably been among the reasons why her mother had died the way she had and definitely had been the reason for her father's death. She wasn't too fond of it all - she was fond of her people, she was fond of her kingdom and she was fond of hopefully finally gaining some stability again now her friend Sigrumm was king after that ridiculous change of kings stag after stag who apparently all hadn't been able to handle the responsibility.

Alekto wasn't too fond of religion, yet she knew there were no sacrifices today and so the commotion was unusual. Quirking her brows, the guard so turned and wandered towards the noise, her ears perking in surprise when she saw what was indeed going on - apparently she had just stumbled in on something big. Kiko was standing on the Moonpool, fawnlings starting to crowd around her as she spoke. Alekto blinked, glad when she spotted the familiar form of her friend Celebrian among the waters.

"Cel...what's happening?" Alekto asked quietly as she had slipped over to the other doe.
"Kiko had a vision. She apparently shall be the next Oracle." Celebrian informed her, both does turning to the doe on the Moonpool as she requested those that had gathered to accept her.
Alekto paused. It probably was not her place to judge and yet, Kiko was a fine character, a good doe, someone who took charge, a leader who however would always have an open ear for everyone. Someone who had suffered herself, Alekto knew, someone who knew what it meant to be weak and aside all that, she was a doe. Maybe after all these stags Sigrun becoming king was just a first step. Maybe what they needed was for does to finally take charge.

"What do you think?" Celebrian asked, returning Alekto from her ponderings.
"I think...change is good...maybe taking a step forward is exactly what we need. Maybe we all need to step out of our comfort zones a bit, like our king and now our new oracle does. Maybe we all should see ourselves responsible for some change. Maybe this is good. Yes. I think we're on a good way." Alekto said, nodding approvingly.
"Yes, maybe." Celebrian pondered, Alekto's words touching something inside her, just like Kiko's speech did. Maybe she too needed to do something to fill the void inside her.

Sirius | Oakfern Stag | Scout-Guard

Sirius watched his mother disappear into the growing crowd while simultaneously keeping an eye on Movaria, as he noticed the concern and worry that began to grow on her face. He couldn't understand how she worried over some random shaman seemingly overdosing. It wouldn't have been the first time that's happened, that's for sure. He shrugged it off, however, since if it was something important to her, he wasn't going to tell her otherwise. Reading her was easier than reading others, as she spoke more with a body language than with a voice, but sometimes it was still impossible to understand exactly -what- was going on in her mind.

After a few moments more, the shaman rose, and Sirius was relieved to see the relief on Mova's face, as well. What came after the doe rose, however, puzzled him even more. He even became more irritated the longer she spoke. 15 years and he still wasn't convinced in the idea of Gealach. What blessings had it given? What purpose did it even serve? If there really was a god to accept all their monthly sacrifices, he couldn't tell. And now there was this random doe, claiming that this owl was a sign. A blessing in and of itself. Claiming that the owl -called- her to be the Oracle.

Sure it did, lady. Sure did.

It was just an owl. A simple white owl. Probably thought her messy hair had a hidden mouse in it, or something. The audacity of her! Couldn't she see how weird that sounded? His faced became a furrowed mess as he pressed his eyebrows together in his scrutinizing speculation. He turned his head to see how Movaria was taking this, but... she was.. gone? Where did she go?! She was just here!! It didn't take much head spinning to find Movaria slowly moving forward into the Moonpool, to accept Kiko's Oracly-ness.

Wha.. really, Mova! Have some shame!

At first he was annoyed with Movaria's decision, but... perhaps he had been too harsh on the shaman.. Kiko, was it? What ever it was, maybe he could give her a chance. Mova seemed to be openly accepting her, and he liked Movaria. She had been one of the only ones he could trust lately in life.

He slowly, and hesitantly, stepped into the Moonpool as well, following Mova as a guide. As he got closer to Kiko, the owl gave off another haunting screech, and he swore, it stared right into his eyes as it did, seemingly piercing his soul.

Am I... unwanted?

Sirius began to wade backwards, thinking this was a mistake. He wasn't even supposed to be out here this day, after all. He should be training! However, he looked forward and saw Movaria looking back to him, gesturing him to swim forward.

So with heavy hooves and a sinking heart, he gave it another go. He waded to Movaria's side and watched as she went back to focusing her thoughts towards the soft brown doe. He connected his magic to Kiko's, helping her stay aloft on her pillar of water.

Now, just one final thing to do. Answer the question. Did he accept her?

I don't really know.

Kara / Doe / Tutor (Storyteller)

Being near the Moonpool while the shamans entered their sacred trances was almost intoxicating to Kara; the sense of tranquility she felt from the hushed murmuring could only be found here, where a devout fawnling could practically taste the divinity in the air. As it was, the peaceful air this evening was...different, somehow. While the petite doe had never been close enough to the surface to feel it, some of the soldiers spoke of a pressure in the air as the humidity ramped up in front of a storm. That was what this felt like; an almost palpable weight hung in the air as the shamans all began to wake- save for one familiar figure. Kiko.

Nosing her way to the front ranks of the crowds on the lake side, Kara gasped softly as an owl - Gaelach's holy messenger and guide - silently circled above the sleeping doe. Kara's heat hammered in her chest as Kiko awoke, practically vibrating with emotion; though positive or negative, she could not say. Something important was happening, and Kara sent a silent prayer that whatever would happen next would reward the brown doe for her diligence and devotion. As Kiko rose on her watery pillar- a fitting display of her aptitude for Gaelach's magic - Kara felt her heart soar as the owl did.

"But where is our Oracle to lead our other pole - the shamanhood - into the depth of spirituality? We need both. Presence and physical strength and indenting into the power of devotion. Who deepens our Spiritualty? Who amplifies our Devotion? Who enhances our Adoration?"

Kara didn't realise she was crying until she felt the tears running down her face. Yes, this was what they needed! For too long had the herd been left to wander alone in the dark; her dear sister's tireless work had given them stable ground under their feet after the upheaval of the past lifetime, but now they needed a guiding light. Someone to show them the true path back into Gaelach's glory. Someone....like Kiko. As the Oathkeeper spoke, Kara felt joy rushing through her. Yes! Let the herd finally leave these dark times behind them, and return to Gaelach's side once more! Let them all show their great God the love and devotion they felt! Let the wellspring of Faith once more run clear and true, let the herd bask in their God's light once more.

Kara barely noticed entering the water with her brothers and sisters, drawn forward as the Owl alighted onto Kiko's back, gazing out over the assorted fawnlings as if daring them to question Gaelach's choice. And who would? Who were they to question their God? When Kiko asked of them to accept her, Kara couldn't help the smile on her face as she cried out.

"I accept you, Oracle Kiko!"

Movaria  / Guard-Recruit

Something was wrong. Movaria had just arrived to the Moonpool with Sirius and Aliee, but something just seemed... off. One of the shamans had been seemingly lost in a deep trance, as other fawnlings began to gather around the slumbering shaman. Movaria rarely visited the shamans during their trances and rituals, as they were for shamans and she was definitely not a shaman, but even so, this seemed a little odd to her. Aliee left Sirius and Movaria in search of Thray for more information, and disappeared into the crowd.

Movaria walked alongside Sirius as they made their way towards the slumbering shaman. As they walked she heard the slight murmurs from the other nearby fawnlings that this doe had been out for quite a while longer than normal. As she made her way forward she found that this doe wasn't just any doe, it was Kiko! Concern grew on Movaria's face, worried for her old friend. Is she hurt? Is she sick? Too many mushrooms?! As if in response to her own emotion, Kiko snapped awake! Movaria's heart lifted as Kiko seemed to effortlessly create her own pillar of water to stand upon.

Dropping her jaw as Kiko began to speak, she realized what she had just walked in on. Nothing was wrong, but something extraordinary was happening! Subconsciously, Movaria stepped forward into the pool, wading slowly towards her dear old friend as she continued to speak. Finally, Kiko's speech came to a conclusion.

A question. Would we accept her? Of course! Movaria's mind spoke in agreement. If anyone deserved to be Oracle, it was Kiko. Always devoted to her calling as a shaman. Always there to help her herd when ever possible.

A mixture of awe and pain grew on her face. Another moment she desperately wished for a voice of her own. To call out among the other fawnlings singing their acceptance! She wanted to be heard. She wanted to signify her choice! She wanted to sing!

Knowing that her wish was impossible, she did the next best thing she could think to do. She reached out with her magic in an effort to connect it with Kiko's. Something Kiko herself had taught her in a past lesson, one of those many many nights ago. Movaria closed her eyes to focus on her friend's magic, helping to keep Kiko aloft on her aquatic pillar.

I accept you, Oracle Kiko!
