Simple and easy. I have seen Despicable Me yesterday (and today (and probably again some other day this week)) and although I am not so keen on those yellow minion things or the children... I love the design and character of Gru. Very well done.
Edit: Okay... 4 times so far. xD Just can't resist going when the cinema is just a minute from uni and a unlimited card in my pocket...
Also I think this is the most boring picture of Gru ever... he has so many fantastic expression in the film, it's a big mistake to use such a basic one... not good.

I agree, he's just beautifully animated (or some equivalent because he's hardly beautiful, just fantastically designed); I love how he's top-heavy but very agile and flexible xD Like an amalgamation of limbs and his scarf
Also, first movie, also wasn't too fond of the kids or the minions... suffice it to say, I like those other characters more in the second one~

You're right. That's just what I thought when uploading it but... oh well... I'll do better with the next one. Somehow I think CG-Characters can't be drawn perfectly in 2D as they just don't look that good in 2D. At least it's very hard with Gru, his design works wonderfully in CG and especially in movement but in 2D and on paper?... Not that good... :/

Idk, I think he looks really nice on paper. 8D Mostly because I draw with a 3D style though, it's a little bit like pencil CGI. oh god wait until you see my latest portrait of him, it's amaaazing. 8D
